GuestToo, thanks for all the info! I better understand the installation process now. Vers. 1.5 and 2.0 were using the same profile leading to conflicts I mentioned before. There is still one thing I don't understand though. I downloaded Ver 2.0 from Mozilla.com and unzipped it into a Firefox2 direct...

Problem to upgrade Firefox from 1.5 to 2.0 on Puppy 1.07
Some time ago, I used GuestToo's installer pup to put Firefox 1.5 on Puppy 1.07. When I attempted to update to Firefox 2.0 using the pup file on the Wiki (I assume this is meant for Puppy 2.x) a big mess ensues. The two versions of Firefox are in different directories and fight with one another. How...

Please refer to this thread. Several users of the forum (including me) have gotten their printers to work using these instructions. But be prepared to work a bit... the thread is 10 pages long!

CUPS won't communicate with network printer
Using info from the CUPS printing thread in the Cutting Edge forum I finally have the ability to print from Puppy (Yay!). I was succesful in getting a Canon BJ20 to work on the parallel port. (with CUPS, ghostscript, a driver from LinuxPrinting.org and foomatic filters, whew!) However, I have not be...

I eliminated the floppy as a possible cause. I now run tiny.exe from the hard drive using MSDOS 7.1. Still have the same problems at startup and shutdown. So it must have something to do with tiny.exe. I haven't had any luck with trying to get grub.exe to work. C:\PUPPY\grub.exe --config-file=c:\pup...

Startup / Shutdown Annoyances - Hard Drive Install
I have Puppy 1.07 installed on a hard disk and boot using an Option 1 Floppy. Startup problem: When booting, about half the time it loads vmlinuz OK then chokes about halfway through loading image.gz. The computer then reboots, usually once or twice until it 'catches' and image.gz is loaded OK. What...

Trouble re-mounting network drive on Windows machine
I have a small home network with two XP desktops and a Puppy Laptop. Everything seems to work great - Except... Using LinNeighborhood Samba Client, I sucessfully mounted two drives on one of the XP machines (using instructions in the HOW-TO section! Thanks!) After shutting the system down and reboot...

Install WordPerfect for Unix in Puppy?
I am new to Linux and am very impressed with Puppy! On the first day I realized that I could do about 80% of what I need to do with Puppy rather than Windows (YAY!). I would love to include the other 20% as well. A lot of that last 20% involves using a large number of Wordperfect documents (I've tot...
