How do you run Puppy right now? No windows on the old thinkpad. No, definitely not. I'm running a Live CD. I may at some point want to install at least one distro on the hd, but I plan to try new ones now and then also. As I get more proficient in linux I may want to explore other flavors of linux ...

How to configure my hd for best performance?
okay, I am running 3.01 on a thinkpad 600 with 160mb ram and a 10 g hd. The hd is not partitioned, I think. Definitely I need to create a swap partition. Been a very long time since I had to partition a drive, and I would like some suggestions. I plan to try out a few distros, but so far 3.01 works ...

HP PSC 1209 usb need help (not solved after all)
EDIT: hplip did at least let me print a test page, but today I reinstalled the printer,a nd i can print a test page both from the HP tools and from CUPS, but I can't print out of abiword or gnumeric, nor do I see a way to print a pdf -- the 1209 isn't a choice in the program's print area I'm pretty...

what to do with those crazy pup save files...
I didn't think I had installed 3.01 to the hd, I was under the impression I was just running it from the cd. So I burned a disc of pcPuppyOS 6, and tried to boot with that. I got a snazzy new splash screen, and then, after a certain point, it just opened up my regular old desktop, as if I didn't eve...

it's a rev P, btw. I have read all the threads I could find about the DWL-650, and some confused me completely. I think most of them are referring to the dwl-650 being used under an older version of puppy (like 2.10 or such) and I wondered if anyone might be using the current version of the OS with ...

also on thinkpad 600
I was never able to get sound to work under earlier versions of PUppy, but I read this thread today. I'm now running 3.02 on a thinkpad 600. I disabled the quickboot by pressing the F1 button during boot and going through the set up menu to find quickboot. Then I ran the ALSA wizard and had it detec...

IBM Thinkpad 600
Originally I ran puppy 1.0.8rl, and it was happy happy happy, altho I never have managed to get the sound to work. I couldn't get the video tweaked in enough to run 2.10, but I'm doing fine with 3.01. With 3.01, the usb works. IBM Thinkpad 600 Pent II 298 mhz? no idea how much ram, tell me how to de...
