I have seemingly this exact problem also. I'm also getting a bogus IP address when trying to connect to my wireless router which is a TP-LINK TD-W8920G. I have a TP-LINK TL-WN321G USB wireless adaptor (Ralink chipset).

I'm using Puppy 4.2.1.
