For me it was useful to copy menu.lst to C:\, because grub searches root directories first.

In gparted you will first have to choose "extended" which will then can be filled with logical partitions.

The partition with the pup_3xx.sfs on it is mounted at bootup as /initrd/mnt/dev_save and a link to /mnt/home is created.
