But they didn't work. This is a toshiba which has had quite a few problems with drivers in the past. Thanks for the ideas everyone.

Wow, Thanks everyone for the responses. Beem and _Mark_, this laptop doesn't have a brightess knob, but it does have Fn keys that work - in Windows only. Emil, Thanks I just tried your app, also the one from the menu worked (I'm using 5.2), however, it just darkened the colored parts of my screen, i...

How to dim the screen?

Is there a way to dim the screen on puppy? I often work in the dark and the screen is way to bright.

Thanks.

if you are still wondering, with everything saved and all windows closed, either go to exit to prompt in the menu or press ctrl+alt+backspace this will take you to the prompt and kill X, type "xorgwizard" and go through the setup process, selecting your screen resolution ending in 24 i.e. ...

Thanks, that is kind, it does take a lot of time to make sure all packages are compatible, choose icons, etc. Glad you found something that works perfectly for you. (I got a new computer, and have been using mostly ubuntu because I would spend 'toomuchcomputertime' if I were using puppy - through tr...

Thanks for the compliments Puppyt, but all I did was change icons and programs etc, the puppy development team did most or all of what you are talking about I think.

Ok, Thanks, I tried using a different theme and it works. The interesting thing is that it worked with a different version of icewm, maybe it reinstalled the theme with a older version of the theme?

Thanks

Ok, I have another question, the icewm panel is using different sizes for the bar than for the minimize icons. I have been trying to edit the config files, but can't get it fixed. I have attached a picture. What do I need to change?

Thanks.

Open GL on ATI Radion 3100

I am trying to get Open GL working in Lucid 005. Hardinfo says it is available, but won't run.

I am using an ATI Radion 3100 graphics card, and have tried several ATI Catalist packages, but can't get it working.

What am I missing?

Thanks.

Thanks, yes I am using puppy lucid. I tried Icewm 1.3.2 and it would not give me icons, and icewm 1.3.5 did all sorts of weird stuff (italisized text in menus, doubled text...) but had icons. I found it was the file 'icewm' that made the difference. Yesterday I compiled 1.3.6 but it didn't give me i...

Thanks,
I just made /etc/icewm and copied all the preference files from /root/.icewm to that folder, ran fixmenus and restarted icewm. Still no icons. Did I do something wrong?

Thanks.

Ok, I have gnucash working with just your sfs. However, it only works on puppy 4.31, on Puppy Lupu (were all my files are) it crashes after my file is open when I try to select an account.

It displays an error saying to please install bug-buddy, the gnome bug tracing tool. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Thanks, but it messed up libraries, and would not boot. I removed the duplicate libraries, but Gnucash would not start. I can't even get the windows version to work through wine.

Thanks.

How do I use new2dir? I have been trying

Code: Select all

new2dir make install
but it just makes an empty directory. If I just run

Code: Select all

make install] the programs install, so I know they work.

Thanks, I hope I am not hijacking your thread.
