Re: Will puppy run on a Hp T5700

Can you tell me which of the 12 distros you tried was the most suitable for the T5700. Caveat emptor: this is my highly personal opinion after "playing" with a number of distros and exhibits my current bias. It really depends on what you are trying to accomplish (of course). e.g., 1) is i...

Yes, it runs great on T5700.

I have run Puppy and 12+ other OS's (including Debian) on it.

You can run it from USB or HD (would have to be installed). It has USB 1.1

Here is a breakdown of what I did.

/ install gslapt ( great stuff )
/ install Slackware 12.0 lvm and devmapper
arrgk: Can you explain how to install the Slackware lvm onto Puppy? I have searched but haven't found it and I am not sure how to do it.

Thanks in advance for any info.

The FreeBSD based OS's work, the Linux-based ones do not. With the exception of BasicLinux, which works fine. It uses loadlin to boot from FreeDOS. Read the entire thread, I even got Opera working on it, albeit slowly - don't expect much performance out of this box... Sorry, I forgot about that one...

OK, I will try this evening. What I did try and got "close" once again (i.e., "Grub" menu/boot options for DSL Linux and successful extraction of the Kernel but then freezing when attempting to boot the Kernel) was with this Howto -- gotta be one of the most succinct I have ever ...

Chicks: Found some useful info about these Maxspeeds -- you basically can't find much about the 5140, but there is a 5200 that has some more info floating around at the Australian site. Check out these links: 1) 5100: http://www.maxspeed.com.au/products/specifications/5100.htm 5200: http://www.maxsp...

Update: Also got DOS to boot from CF using the HP Tool mentioned above. So the successful CF boot list so far is now: 1) FreeNAS created from a linux dd or Physdiskwrite of the image 2) WinCE that came with it 3) DOS using HP USB Format Tool I tried this on random 64MB and 256MB CFs I had laying aro...

I wasn't able to get Puppy or DSL to run on this box, just BasicLinux booted from FreeDOS from a CF card. I couldn't get FreeNAS to boot from CF, but am running a "full" install on a 40GB HDD which is bolted to the case. I installed it from CD by putting the HDD in a Dell 600 laptop's IDE...

Chicks (or anyone): Not to beat a dead horse, but I bought a couple of these MaxTerms on eBay after reading this thread ... have had a heck of a time getting ANY flash to boot anything besides FreeNAS, lol. Was hoping to get DSL or Puppy running; it seems very finicky about the Flash/formatting of t...
