Hi Irihapeti, Yep, that's me on the Ubuntu forums. @ Aitch: Hello there! Nice to hear from you. Thanks for the links, I'll check them out. Irihapeti: Did you install the native Linux version of Express Scribe, or the Wine version ? I use the Wine version, and it works very well. I never could get th...

Hi Irihapeti, I had actually been trying to use the NCH Express Scribe in Ubuntu, and it didn't work with SCIM there. So I'm guessing it may not play well with SCIM in Puppy, either. Are you able to tell by looking at the application, whether it is GTK, QT3, or QT4? I suppose one would need the prog...

Hello there Irihapeti, Could you remind me-- is there a critical factor that determines whether SCIM will be able to be used in any particular application or not? Is it that the application must support QT4? For example, there is a nice transcription application made by NCH called Express Scribe, wh...

Hey, what's going on? It's been a while since I could come back here. What is the news? What is the latest on the development of all our work for the international puppy? How is everyone doing?

Best regards,

Irihapeti, Thank you for asking. I am still here, checking in every few days. Unfortunately, my vision issue hasn't resolved yet and it is still difficult for me to use the computer. Enrico and I have been back and forth in testing for Geany, and I feel we are almost there. One last aspect it seems,...

I thank all of you for your support and concern.
This vision problem which has come out of the blue, has stumped all the specialists. So I'm still in the midst of it. But I'm with you all in heart and spirit.

Best regards,

Just an update from my side-- I felt to let you know this since we are all working on this together. And a certain closeness also develops in that. :) I may not be able to be so active for some time as in the last 2-3 days I've developed a very odd problem of double vision which makes it difficult t...

Rameshji: I agree with you fully. An OS should not be designed around the needs of any particular individual or group of people but should be designed for the welfare of all at heart. On the point of publications as regards Hindi and publishing in North India, I am not aware of what the current conv...

Re: Font Encoding Converters

I wish to bring to notice one of the important issues related with Localization - at least with respect to Tamil Language - namely, Font Encoding Conversion. Is this an issue only for Tamil Language or does the same issue remain for all languages? It is also an issue in Hindi. The best fonts are st...

Re: Ditto

My results are same as yours. So, it is not the problem with your computer. The spell checker plug in needs to grow a little further. So, please inform Enrico about our results. He will be happy to see them. Let's wait. I see, ok so what I am seeing in my computer I can interpret as a valid test. I...

Re: Consensus

Rameshji: I have one main question: does the realtime "spell-check while typing" (continous spellchecker [csc]) feature work on your computer? Somehow I got the sense from the way you described your findings yesterday, that it is working on your computer. And if that is the case, then it s...

However, if the general consensus is that we drop qt3 support and concentrate on qt4, I'm happy to go with that. Do we have that consensus yet, though? As far as I know, Portabase is not yet working with qt4. Only qt3. Although Jeremy wrote that he hopes to set it up with qt4 this month, but it is ...
