CatDude, You are good! Kinda freaked me out a bit when u told me u knew what monitors I had! I glanced over my shoulder just to be sure no one was there...hah just kidding. 8) Yeah I was using a bulky 19" but decided to go back to my more "compaq-ed" 17" CRT. Pardon my mini-blund...

Aw man, that sounds like some sucky work. I guess I'll just rely on the BIOS for a little while. How about my HDD temps? I'm very curious about them b/c they are in a custom-made silencing device. Sort of like a removable 3x3.5" HDD bay wrapped in 1.5 inch "egg-carton" foam. I imagine...

Hey Catdude, I checked the xorg.conf and it referred to XXXNVXXX1445 so I did not move those 2 files. The rest were moved to my documents. I rebooted and xorg.conf0 was re-creatred it seems. My resolution stayed at 1152x864 and everything works fine. So I suppose I can delete all those files from my...

Hey SirDuncan,

This is a desktop computer. The BIOS has a few temperature readings (for the MB and CPU) which leads me to believe I do have thermal sensors.

Hey Catdude, I've noticed after all my tinkering there are no several files in my /etc/X11 folder that are named the following... -xorg.conf -xorg.conf0 -xorg.conf. -xorg.conf.backup -xorg.conf.bak -xorg.conf.NVidiaCPQ1445 -xorg.conf.NVidiaVSC384d Something just feels off / sloppy about that. The fi...

"Try booting with the option puppy acpi=on or puppy acpi=force."

Where do I enter this? ...I'm not booting from the LiveCD. Puppy is on my HDD. I tried exiting to prompt and entering both but I got something like "no such command was found."

Well I've been using meebo the last few days and I really like how convenient it it. However, I find when I rearrange my Contact list window or a convo window the frame of the window is slow to react and often chugs across my screen. It doesn't feel very snappy. Do u get this same behaviour Aitch?

Looking to monitor temperatures

Is there a simple way to find my CPU / MB & HDD temps? I'm just curious to see how high they are running Puppy Linux (2.17). Restarting and going into the BIOS isn't my favourite thing to do.

Any help would be great. Thank you.

How to set 1152x864 resolution? (Solved)

I have a 17" CRT monitor running from my Puppy 2.17 box. Using Xorg I could really only choose 1024x768 (24) since this monitor won't do the only higher res of 1280x1024. Is it possible to manually achieve 1152x864 (24). Thats my sweet-spot for 17" screens. Also be patient with me, I'm a n...
