I'm way out of my depth here, but I reckon it;'s the best way to learn. I'm a puppy user for a couple of hours, and linux for only a little bit longer, so bear with me. I'm trying hard to break free from windows...... I' started on woshs anjuta procedure to install, but fell at the first hurdle. I d...

installing into removable media

I need to install puppy into removable media, rather than dedicated hard disk. I have installed it onto usb, no problems, but are there any pro's / cons for sd card or compact flash. The only one I am aware of is that compact flash has limited r/w cycles. but what about speed / cost / anything else ...

How to boot Puppy 4 without text messages?

Is it possible to have puppy 4.00 boot without any text on the screen outlining progress, ie go from black screen at power up to the desktop? Maybe a "Loading......" string just to let you know something is happening?

thanks for that, it's certanily worth further investigation. However i didn't mean to ask for basic in linux, what I meant to ask was: is there a linux equivalent to the vb6 IDE? Compiling the obligatory "hello world" application with geany doesn't quite float my boat. I'm sure someone has...

Is there a Linux equivalent to Microsoft's Visual Basic 6?

As a long time VB developer, I'm looking for a similar development environment for puppy, but obviously not in VB. While VB does have it's limitations, it's an easy development environment, lots of controls, forms, make a setup.exe file etc. What is the procedure for linux? Has anyone made a similar...

hiccup in seamonkey

i was browsing using seamonkey, (www.snotr.com) video clips to be precise, and seamonkey seemed to freeze. Was working fine up til then, had shown several clips etc. I had to kill the browser, but upon browser restart i was prompted to manage user profiles, saying the default one was already in use....

Ah,
I had assumed the devx version was 217, as all references in the docs were 217 and the iso filename is puppy-4.00-k2.6.21.7-seamonkey.iso, which also has 217.

thanks.
