I apologize for the delayed reply - thanks to everyone who has helped so far! I think in Puppy 4 you just need to put that in a script in /root/startup Otherwise you can put this in your jwm config file Awesome - this was it, big thanks. Use pschedule to run the shutdown script at that time. I think...

I actually solved it by putting the xset s off command as a script in the startup folder Did this too with the same result you had - computer screen still goes black. I'm surprised at just how difficult this is turning out to be. haha Keep me posted if you, or anyone on the forum figures out a way ...

Try adding xset s off to /root/.xinitrc before exec $CURRENTWM I tried this and it doesn't seem to work. I created a line inbetween a comment field and the exec $CURRENTWM field, and to no avail, the screensaver still enagages. Also booted into the BIOS to see if there was a power-saving feature th...

Autorun an application on startup
Hi everyone, I'm trying to put together a digital photo frame using puppy linux. I'd like to be able to automatically run GQview at startup. I used google and found the following code: gqview -s -f /path/to/folder/with/images This should allow me to start GQview in full-screen mode with the slidesho...

Copying/transferring files from a USB device (iPod)

How do I go about copying a specific folder from my ipod (which is in disk mode) to the desktop? I attemp...

Re:
Can we assume that you tried the following, which should immediately start the first menu item. timeout 0 default 0 This was it! Thanks for your help - I had assumed that I did not need to edit any files in order for puppy to load. Thanks, much appreciated. It's not a big deal (at least, time-wise)...

Puppy doesn't 'boot' automatically [solved]
Hi everyone, I'll try and be as blunt and brief as possible. I'm a Linux noob. Very little knowledge of the system. Installed puppy off of the LiveCD using universal installer. Full HD install. Installed bootloader afterwards. My question is: everytime Puppy boots (whether from being shutdown or a r...
