hi all tracked down the module i needed but although conky starts transparent it reverts to a black background. the only way ive been able to get it transparent is if it is set to; 'own_window no' but although it then acts as text and graphs on the background pic it wipes out all the desktop icons. ...

thankyou gentlemen. im working on it now. ill let you know what occurs. i started to get vague inkling that i needed to mark the main partition as 'boot' but i havent had to do that before so was a bit off guard.........<packs brick wall back in box and bandages head>

hi there

ive been digging in the files and it looks like theres no boot/grub folder!!! so im not sure whats occured. also the fstab file has no strings associated with the HDD either. HELP lol


scrap that found the grub. im reinstalling yet again in an effort to get a cd free auto boot.

hmmmmmm whats going on then? both are installed to the HDD but it will only boot if the cd is in. if the cd is left out it sticks at the grub screen.

hi there thanks for your help here. the HDD was and has been formatted to ext2 using gparted. ive just been checking my ISO's and it looks like i may have downloaded the wrong puppy. so i have just downloaded puppy 4 and burnt it to a cd. its only 80+ in size the other was over 200.. ok ive reinstal...
