Taskbar icons
Fatdog 600 works great for me. There is just one weird problem I've found. The taskbar entries for open windows don't show the icons for each application; they all look the same. Screenshot attached. Does anyone else have this behavior? Does anyone know how to solve it? I've seen the same thing on t...

Java crashes: Fatdog 520 and Fatdog 521
I've been using Puppy 421 for years. But my new laptop (Panasonic CF-C1) is too new for it... So I've been trying the newer Puppy versions and derivatives. Fatdog runs the best; it's the only puppy I've found that correctly identifies the networking and display hardware. Everything seems great excep...

WPA, wpa_supplicant with Intel 3945 and iwl3945 driver
I've had lots of trouble connecting to WPA networks, especially with hidden SSIDs. Now thanks to some help from tempestuous and others here, I have a solution. First, I got rid of everything in /etc/network-wizard . There were lots of old profiles from earlier failed attempts. Second, I manually cre...

I also have this problem
I also have had lots of trouble with WPA and an Intel 3945 laptop. It worked for a while at home only with Puppy 4.0, but could never connect anywhere else. Since I upgraded to 4.1 and beyond (now running 4.2.1), it's been pretty flaky. The problems are much worse if I use a hidden SSID on my networ...

VDPAU or NVIDIA ION support?
tempestuous, It's true that my MPlayer package is 18 months old, but the only significant change to MPlayer since then has been MPEG4 hardware acceleration support. Did you enable one of the MPEG4 acceleration features, such as VDPAU? Do you have any plans to update mplayer for puppy to support hard...

no touchscreen in /proc/bus/input/devices
I have a Panasonic Toughbook T5. It has a USB-connected Fujitsu touchscreen. I installed the touchscreen .pet. modprobe usbtouchscreen and evdev work OK. I can see both modules in lsmod. But there is no entry for the touchscreen in /proc/bus/input/devices. I: Bus=0011 Vendor=0002 Product=0007 Versio...

getting closer...
Installing the kernel source as you suggested seems to work. It compiles OK. But installing doesn't completely work: make -C /lib/modules/2.6.21.7/build M=/root/pcc-acpi-0.9-hy20081212 INSTALL_MOD_DIR=kernel/drivers/acpi modules_install make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-2.6.21.7' INSTALL /...

Thanks
Thanks for the quick reply.
Can I use
kernel-src-2.6.21.7-patched-puppy4.1retro.sfs
with the 2.6.21.7 kernel in puppy 4.0? Or do I need to upgrade to 4.1?

how to compile kernel modules for 4.0 Dingo?
I'm trying to compile additional kernel modules (Panasonic ACPI hotkey driver). The output should be pcc-acpi.ko. make is looking for how to build "modules" in the /lib/modules/2.6.../build directory. The build directory doesn't exist in my puppy (which has devx_400.sfs) Here is the Makefi...

Lirc modules for Puppy 4.0
Does anyone have the lirc modules compiled for the 2.6.21 kernel in Puppy 4? I've found LIRC-0.8.1modules-k2.6.18.1.pup , but they only seem to be for older puppies (with 2.6.18 kernel).

LIRC modules for Puppy 4.0 Dingo
Do the LIRC modules in
LIRC-0.8.1modules-k2.6.18.1.pup
work for Puppy 4.0? From what I've found, Puppy 2.16 was the last one to use the 2.6.18 kernel. For newer puppies, do we need LIRC modules compiled for the 2.6.21 kernel? If so, are those available anywhere?
Thanks.
