Thank you so much young man. Of course I don't trust Linux (or any other OS), though I'm pretty sure Linux isn't out to get me... More than that, however, how can anyone trust that granny really is a granny after the above apparently stereotypical but over-the-top-so comment? :-) [/u] where did tha...

Re: happy winmodem
The 2.17 has a newer kernel, and the kernel of 2.16 seems to make winmodems happy enough. :) I wonder if using the "retro" version of 3.01 will fix the problem (the "retro" uses the same kernel as version 2.16). sorry folks if my question is already answered somewhere in the for...

Re: Do you trust Linux?
My first excursions into Linux Penguin land, I was very suspicious. Those Linux Lads are all hackers and deviants trying to find out info I wouldn't tell my psychiatrist . . . They wrote viruses. The were anarchic weirdos. They were dangerous. That is what I thought. LOL.. maybe its a mistake...

Re: More on Thinkpad 600 internal modem autodetection
I think the problem with puppy 2.17 not detecting the internal Thinkpad 600 modem is that 'puppyserialdetect' does not detect it. I had to use acpi=force as a kernel parm in order for the system to detect the modem tty. dmesg shows the rear 9 pin serial and internal modem as ttyS0 and ttyS1 respect...
