thanks for the k2.6.30.5 sn9c20x microdia driver
OK, done - http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=346459#346459 ... I presume the sn9c20x webcam driver/libv4l library works?! Generally I only hear reports when something's not working! tempestuous, It worked for me in Puppy 4.2.1 (and using either xorg or xvesa) with export LD_PRELOAD=/...

default music player in Puppy 4.2.0?
When I use shell-fm, it is able to play the track just fine (but doesn't bring up a player GUI, which is fine). I am curious, how is it playing back the track? I am looking in the process list and do not find any process that gives me a clue which application is playing back the song. Is it going di...

[SOLVED} "Unable to change station or get a playlist" AND
This is the first time I tried LastFmProxy 1.3b. It would not play and would spit out error messages similar to below: [Thu Oct 8 15:51:20 2009]: Starting LastFMProxy 1.3b... [Thu Oct 8 15:51:20 2009]: Connecting to last.fm server... [Thu Oct 8 15:51:20 2009]: To tune in, point your browser to: [Thu...

pdf viewers
All good suggestions, folks. Will try out the other PDF viewers when I get a chance. In the meantime, I will use the workaround of printing using lpr (with -o page-ranges option). Off-topic: I have observed that CUPS-PDF printer does not produce searchable PDFs. In fact, the output PDF appears to ha...

weird geany font kerning in print out
I am using geany 0.16 with frugal Puppy Linux 4.2.1. When printing using Geany's GTK option, the fonts in the print out has weird spacing (I believe kerning is the proper term?). I am using what I think is the default editor font DejaVu Sans Book. The only way I've been able to workaround this is to...

lpr prints the specific page just fine
I suspect it is probably epdfview... I've seen similar things, although I guess it could also be ghostscript. Try printing it from the command line with lpr and see what it does. Thank you for the suggestion. I tried it and, as you suspected, lpr was able to print the one page just fine. So, it loo...

Weird CUPS pdf font printing problem [Solved via workaround]
I had occasion to print some prepaid US Postal Service labels in Puppy 4.2.1 frugal. I used Seamonkey to navigate the USPS website and, in turn, allowed the browser to open the shipping label in epdview. I then used epdfview's File->Save option to save the PDF file for printing later. When printing ...

RTP
It's okay, I found it. I was asking about this setting in shell-fm: "P = enable/disable RTP". RTP stands for "record tracks to profile".aragon wrote:kuapao: sorry, i don't understand your question
aragon
thank you for shell-fm
This is very useful. Thank you for sharing it! It has helped me to reuse an antiquated laptop as a last.fm music player.
I wonder what RTP is?

kuapao Thanks for explanation. I have never heard of this solution before. - Is it common? What is the benefit of keeping video_ts inside an iso? Did the DVD-ripper pack it this way, or have you/someone packed it like this afterwards? Remember, you can easily unpack the iso by clicking on it in rox...

why not?
You might try moving the devx someplace else like a usb flash drive. Why would you have it in/mnt/home if you dont want it in the first place? runtt21, My workaround was to rename the SFS so that it did not have _420 in the filename. I keep often-used SFS files in /mnt/home, so that these are only ...

The sysstat utilities are a collection of performance monitoring tools for Linux. These include sar, sadf, mpstat, iostat, pidstat and sa tools. Copy/shrink an ISO via loop device in pburn?
kuapao 2. Please add loop devices as source drives in the "Copy/shrink video DVD" option, or add the ability to shrink an ISO file. It didn't like my UDF-based ISO file when I tried the "Burn an ISO image" option. Will you please explain this closer. What does 'Burn an ISO image...
