Perhaps this was already known, but on my Dell D620 an already super fast Tubo was even faster when I remove the HD and booted from the Flash drive. Because it doesn't bother to search for files even when Puppy is running? All I had to do was remove one screw and I can pull the HD out with my finger...

How else can one get the temp without installing some pet for it? When I said my machine was cooler, I go by feeling the air exiting the cooling fan. Since it has a variable speed fan, (3 speed I believe) I can get an idea by the sound, the feel of heat, and how much air is blowing. We have cute th...

Oh, very nice!
Mouse pad is smoother and responsive,
Ethernet is faster,
Runs cooler.

May have found a minor bug....
The lower right time thingy says GMT+7, but when I look at set timezone it says it is set correctly at GMT-7

It does not seem to cause any problems though.

I tried several non-Puppy Linuxes (Lini?) recently. Most were impressive, but S-L-O-W. One that stood out above the others because the file arrangement was close to Windblows. Important to snag newcomers. It was CDLinux from China. Someday I hope to see Puppy have a more Windows-like file explorer. ...

I have been using TPE as my only OS for some time now. Love it!
Is there a version 1.1 still in the works? Are beta testers needed?

Re: TurboPup questions

4. Yes there is an X desktop, it uses JWM to show a taskar at the right of the screen, with icons for the most useful or important apps installed.
The taskbar is on the left side of the screen.

I mentioned in an earlier post that I had a Toshiba Satellite on the way. I now have it set up with Turbopup and love TP even more. Modem is a US Robotics 5637 USB model. Initialization string is merely ATZ4 in the 2nd string (which I think is really the first initialization string). ATZ4 enables ha...

Re: Power saving trick for laptops - BETA

If your laptop battery runs down while the machine is "off"
Is this a problem whether LAN is used or not?

In other words, is the LAN turned on by probing when Puppy boot then left on?

I uninstalled WINE 1.1.43 on my Turbopup Xtreme 1.0 installed on flash, then installed the WINE 1.2rc1. It complained a few dependencies were not there, but it runs great in spite of that. (WINE 1.1.43 also made that complaint) Fixed where a few minor problems where the cursor needed to be on a line...

It has javascript, you just click the S in the lower right corner to allow the scripts you want.

To enable Java, click preferences, in the Edit menu, then Advanced. There is a check box there.

Intermittent problems include the occasional failure to save on exit, and failure to find a new USB flash (after boot) I use for other files. I am almost 100% certain the occasional failure to save was because I had added enough files to make the save larger than the size I had allotted for the pup...

A band new package of Opera 10.54 has been posted today in the Quirky 1.0 feedback thread. I am trying hard not to write a book here... I started with Puppy about a year and a half ago, so no expert. At first I was disappointed that TP was V4.2 as 4.3 finds my IT8212 RAID and 4.2 will not. But now ...

I had the same problem PaulBX1 had, but using Puppy 4.1 alpha 5. Had to use Windows and Burncdcc.

Alpha 7 CD gave an error something like "can not sync" and then kernel panic.
