usr_devx not loading
GeoffS I have just read through all your posts on this topic. I fired up my hard disk install of puppy 1.0.7 and checked the size of my /usr directory - I have usr_devx installed - and it was 725 MB !! If you wish to use puppy from CD - that is run everythig in memory - your memory and swap file mus...

guessing partitions
purple_ghost there is a linux tool for recovery, that I believe is on Knoppix, which attempts to guess patition tables on damage Hard drives. I believe it is gpart or something similar. You could also use tools like partimage and g4u (ghost for Linux - Jonathan Marsden posted about this on the forum...

printer goings on
Sage, Epson in EU, fell foul when lab tests on *empty* carts showed they were one third full still! The things that were proliferating when I left, a year ago, were the use of smart chips across inkjet and lasers. The manufacturers were including trademark and patented material in these. Even if you...

inkjet printers
Having worked for one of the major recyclers, I concur with Sage's comments. Whilst HP medium quality printers and above seem reliable, there is that leverage problem with cartridges having hard wired expiry dates in them, the ink level recorded there as well (count down only) and provision in the p...

bjc 2100 not working
hujanlaut when you say this OLD printer is not working, does it mechanical activate - i.e. picks up paper, feeds but no printing, or is it REALLY not working at the computer interface. You can self test this model canon by powering it up (no need for computer) and quickly double pressing the resume/...

canon print drivers
GeoffS sadly canon refuse to support Linux and most drivers have to be reverse engineered. Your quickest solution would be to google for "Turbo print for linux". This is a commercial package, but it offers driver support for all latest canon printers - even cd printing on PIXMA i3000/4000 ...

Further to hplip install
this was originally sent as pm to shrdlu on 29th Dec 2005 the link is not Puppy specific. the rc.M file does not exist in Puppy. The files you will need to edit are the rc.local or rc.local0 (whichever one you find the rc.cups called in) This is in the /etc/rc.d/ directory, and within this directory...

It has been my experience, these last few days, of the forum not being available. Had thought it was my poor wireless broadband, as I'm not at my home location. Seems those who have posted here are having the same experience.
