WinRAR is technically free in some twisted way. A seriously long time ago I downloaded the trial and to this day it functions perfectly with no apparent limitations. All though it does is tell me I'm using a trial everytime I start it.

Why not just increase the size of the pup_save when prompted at the first shutdown?

Try "xwin icewm" or "xwin starticewm", I'm not sure which.

You should also check your filesystem for errors.
Boot puppy into ram with pfix=ram, then run:

Code: Select all

e2fsck /dev/hda (the drive or partition)
Hope this helps!
(If this is wrong hopefully someone will correct it)

Did you try starting x manually?

Code: Select all

xwin

or

Code: Select all

xwin jwm
Then press enter to ignore.

Hope this helps! :D

To make it work, I needed to install dbus and dbus-glib (from puppy 3 repositories), and execute this: /etc/init.d/messagebus reload; /etc/init.d/messagebus restart.

Thanks
Thats strange. I compiled this on a fresh puppy and it worked fine.

What version are you using?

I asume you are using a Frugal install(Since you booted from usb). In that case you shouldn't use that method as it is for persons who have a full HD installation. You should check out the instructions for frugal here: http://www.puppylinux.org/wiki/archives/old-wikka-wikki/categorydocumentation/com...

If its not too much trouble, could you also provide the dev files?
Without the dev files many features are disabled(even sound).

I am finding difficulty in configuring thunar-archive-plugin to work with Xarchiver. I was wondering if anyone could help me to make the .tap and .desktop files for the plugin.
