Re: Thanks but...
You've been around for sometime now, and you still seem to miss the point that Puppy enthusiasts are a very helpful, friendly and polite breed. Puppy will indeed benefit from people with the right expertise, but I guess it will not let its culture be taunted every now and then. While I'm glad you &...

Re: automate "scan as user" and "mount"
Following HOWTO : Share files and folders between Computers, I've put the following line in /etc/rc.d/rc.local: smbmount //192.168.1.46/HPmp3 mnt/HPmp3 You may be missing a leading / in the path to the mount point: Try /mnt/HPmp3 8. Right click on the computer name/address and select "scan as ...

Re: upgrade to JWM 1.5
I would like to suggest upgrading to JWM 1.5, ... May I suggest that you record any suggestion (especially anything you hope will get into 1.0.9) directly in the tracker, and then (if you wish) make a forum post that links to your tracker entry? I still have a backlog of 20+ or so older suggestions...

Answering this with a complete and accurate file list would be time-consuming. Puppy init scripts and configuration tools use many small and often non-standard config files, mostly in /etc (well, /root/.etc/ really). I would suggest you either (i) read the init scripts and config tool scripts to fin...

This is good work, Lobster! In a few places it seems to sort of miss its target audience a bit, such as suggesting non-menu-based ways to power off and reboot Puppy... why not use Start -> Shutdown -> Power off computer and Start -> Shutdown -> Reboot computer and keep the user in the nice graphical...

Re: Using shared storage and config file at boot time
Scenario: Puppy boots without a hard disk*. It can not locate pup001, so it prompts the user: Tick where to find your files: / / LAN or / / http://puppyfiles.co.uk Username: Password: This must be a cool way of using Puppy without a hard disk* ... A network file system is all that is needed, with o...

Re: Access to Windows Partitions in Puppy

Re: How to call boot script with no return to calling script
I've tried: exec, but it doesn't cause the called script to run, is there another way to run scripts besides ./ It's not that you don't want a return to the calling script, you just don't want the calling script to wait for the called one before it continues (and exits, if the call is the last line...

It would be nice to see some links to the bug tracker on the other Puppy sites. That is probably best delayed until we can get it to be visible at http://bugs.puppylinux.org which is intended to be a fairly permanent name for it, no matter who hosts it longer term. BarryK is working on getting a CN...

All right - I have started samba and it has /root shared. I've tried to find the needed info in the manuals, but couldn't. How do you UNshare the /root. If anyone wants to check whether its RSS feed works, go for it Well, it does work, but only if you allow anonymous access. Re: Mantis bug tracker
I've signed up for the Mantis Bug Tracker site, but I'm a tester only, so don't really know if signing up helps or not. Hopefully so! You're early... it will, in time. I suggested developers first, but it's OK for you to sign up now if you are that enthusiastic :-) Is this your test site John M.? I...
