Can't create virtual devices in Android Studio

I'm trying to make Android Studio work in Tahrpup 64 605. Installing it has been very easy, just by following the official instructions in the Android site. However, I'm stumbling upon a problem when I try to run the virtual device emulator. Time after time, I'm asked to choose a hardware image and ...

Funny noises in laptop fan in Tahr64 605

I have a new 64 bits laptop that came with Ubuntu preinstalled. Now I'm trying to move to Tahrpup605 64bits. Firstly, I had to change the kernel with the change_kernels script and use Xenialpup's (version 7.0.8.5.), because Tahr didn't detected the wifi. Now it works fine, but I've noticed that the ...

Thank you for the reference, SFR. The instructions were very clear. Unfortunately, after installing the only kernel that could work for me, 4.10.8 (as I needed 4.8 or higher) it still does not detect my wifi. Bummer, because it looked like a very elegant pupplet... Anyways, going through the test ha...

Thank you for you reply, Gobbi. That piece of info could not be found by searching through this forum. I've tested FatDog64-710 and it looks promising, however it runs the kernel 4.4.35, and anything below 4.8 (so I've read and experienced), does not detect my wlan. I've then tried to run the change...

Any Ardour for 64bits?

I've (bitterly) realized that there is no 64 bits version of Ardour available for Puppy. Is anybody up to taking Puppy audio production into the 64 bits era? Any version will do, even 3 or 2. I don't know if it helps, but I found this YouTube video that shows how to compile it for ubuntu: https://ww...

If you go the ancient puppies road, two versions I can recommend are 2.16. and 4.3.1. I started with them in a Compaq laptop with 196Mb RAM. Robust and reliable, I only left them when I was forced to by lack of updates and things like that. (Your mileage might vary, but for example, if you go for ve...

Thank you for the Semme hint. I'll try PM him. but I was wondering if "ffmpeg" ,audio part has any use there ? If with this question you mean if ffmpeg is of common use in Puppy, yes it is, I used it in 4.3.1. I think, very useful for example to fine tune a movie when the sound track is ou...

Optimizing Puppy for audio production?

I've used Puppy Studio 3.3. (Lupu based) as my music creation tool for a long long time; I stuck to it for as long as I could because it had great audio performance, but sadly, as a distro, in my computer it often acted clunky and as time passed it became growingly unusable: the internet connection ...

@laanan, I can report that in Tahr605, conky from PPM works ootb. In other Puppies, however, I've always found its configuration problematic. ...and, to add to the modest rants about the desktop: something that I found a bit confusing about Puppy, is that the ROX selector has a default folder called...

Thank you again for the explanations. The Rox code is very neat and well commented, but this kind of inner workings stuff is what I was missing to do my tests. Now I compile and recompile and modify stuff in there like it's nobody's business... 8)

Thank you so much for your clear explanation, Step. I guess the Rox process running in the background is needed because Rox runs the desktop ("pinboard") besides being a file manager, right? Anyways, thank you for solving that mystery, it's great that now my changes in the code do have eff...

It is worth noticing that I didn't compile ROX by the usual configure-make-make install process. ROX filer's readme explains: If you downloaded a source or binary tarball directly, type this ($ is the shell prompt): $ ./ROX-Filer/AppRun This will compile the filer (if necessary) and then run it. Ind...

What's a safe way to compile and test ROX-Filer?

I'm trying to make a few minor customizations to ROX-Filer, so yesterday I downloaded it from github and started to look at the source code (naturally, I am using a sandbox pupsave in case something goes wrong). I made my changes and then compiled --in a folder different from the /usr/local/bin/rox ...
