Have you tried CDCEther? It's in the the complete modules package (check the ftp sites, for example: http://www.puppyfiles.us ), just extract CDCETher.o, put it wherever you like, and <insmod CDCEther.o>, and then run the Ethernet/Network Wizard.. Also, try searching this forum for "USB + CDCEt...

The error about PERMIT being in dotted decimal format doesn't make sense. I received the same error and couldn't resolve it. The firewall documentation is incorrect? Have you searched the forums at http://projectfiles.org/firewall? There are two similar posts about this but neither seemed applicable...

you can do this: # /etc/rc.d/rc.firewall restart That will apply the changes you've made and is better than rebooting. Your formating for PERMIT is correct but I've found with this firewall (http://projectfiles.org/firewall) that PERMIT does not really allow inbound connections, it only opens the po...

the firewall doesn't have any alarm if something goes wrong, but you can enable logging. I would suggest looking here: http://projectfiles.com/firewall. as to what i wrote earlier about how Linux Firewall is easy to configure for bittorrent -- I RECANT! lol While it is very easy to use the firewall ...

you'll need to open the file with a text editor. just use rox to go to the .icewm directory (of course you'll have to choose 'show hidden files' by clicking the appropriate icon on menu of rox once you're in /root) and click on the preferences file and beaver will open the file. That should do it.

Edit /root/.icewm/preferences MailCommand="thunderbird" Do a search for the text MailCommand in the file preferences. Or else scroll way down and squint! Does that change the email client on the menu bar? And if you want to have IceWM monitor a pop3 account you can do a search for "ma...

As firewall only close some ports, I think the net connection won't slow down. Is it true? eMeRy The firewall wizard default mode will close all ports thus making you invisible on the net except with regard to pings, which it responds to. I don't understand your question about the firewall "on...

if you're talking about the one that comes with 1.0.7 then it works great. The wizard makes it especially easy to configure. For example, opening ports for a bittorrent client is a piece of cake. Also, I've tested the firewall on several security testing sites and it seems to be solid.

there's still some wrinkles to be ironed out with BitTorrent client and Puppy, such as the newer versions of BitTorrent only work with new versions of PyGTK, which requires a newer version of a Glib library, which is problematic for Puppy to recognize.. which leads to compiling errors. Some chat abo...
