This is probably a good thing.....because it will mean the end of Microsoft's heyday, if not the big end. Nobody is going to fall for that BS. If this goes down people can always go to Mac if they aren't adventurous enough to switch to Linux. There are also the commercial distros such as RedHat too....

Good work Steve, I love it. I remembered Fluxbox from DSL back in the day. One of my few complaints about Puppy and most puplets is the Windows 95 look of JWM and IceWM.
XFCE is nice but too heavy for my old Dell 566mhz Celeron.
This is PERFECT.

THE SKY IS FALLING!- People have been saying this for ever. The 2000s are like the 1960's all over again......economic woes, distant war, green and other counterculture movements, etc. That era faded away rather uneventfully, and this one will too. Don't believe all of the hype, people.

I don't know what causes this problem, but I know how to get the computer booted up again. At the prompt type startx, which will bring up the desktop, but you will not have USB or network capabilities. Go to the menu and reboot the system. At this point everything should be fine. This at least works...

Puppy 4.1.1 running JWM with Black-VG theme, Stardust GTK theme, Conky, and unused desktop icons removed. Nothing too fancy, but functional.

Open Office 3

Has anybody gotten Open Office 3 to successfully run in Puppy? When I downloaded it the installer would freeze. Maybe there is some way to get a tarball without the installer

It helps me know when I have too many programs open. When I see a big spike in the graph, the computer will usually start to slow down (Which makes since, because it is the number of requests going to the processor).

I have used Puppy 4.1 exclusively on my Pentium III 650 MHZ 512 MB 20 GB machine. After upgrading the RAM from 128 MB and replacing 98SE with Puppy, this 2000-vintage PC turned into a complete speed demon capable of doing everything I need a PC to do. It took a couple of weeks to get up to speed, bu...
