No Sylpheed in Puppy?
Hello, I'm just trying 4.1a4 (404) and was very surprised to find no Sylpheed email client. I have seen nothing about its removal on Barry's blog - so where has it gone? In 404 if you click on the email icon it fires up SeaMonkey mail. Maybe Barry has decided to dump Sylpheed and move to Seamonkey, ...

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I'm talking about Xine-UI. Both Xine-UI and Gxine are front ends to libxine; they are developed by different sets of people. In my experience, Gxine, - is more buggy than Xine-UI - does not handle DVD menus correctly - has a problem with fullscreen - and won't play a whole dir...

edoc, I've just built a multimedia PC for the lounge based on Puppy because it boots so much faster than any other distro. I went with 403 (I'll probably go with 4.1 when it comes out in beta) because it handles DVB-T flawlessly. For the media player I tried three, Xine Mplayer VLC I tried Gxine but...

VLC media player will play your dvd iso's. Just open it the same as you would an ordinary media file. It also plays about almost any media file type you throw at it. Search around and you should find a .pet of it. Thanks, alliwantedwasapepsi. I had already tried vlc, it did play the video but I got...

Discussion Are you one of those who collects mp3s in directory structure like /Artist/Album/Song.mp3. I have a suggestion of how to 'index' content of directories: During indexing, pmusic can make playlists of content of every directory. If we name these playlists with name-of-directories.pmd, they...

The answer to my last question is; YES it can, here is some info from http://www.mjmwired.net/kernel/Documentation/dvb/faq.txt Newsflash: Newest xine directly supports DVB. Just copy your channels.conf to ~/.xine and start 'xine dvb://', or select the DVB button in the xine GUI. Channel switching wo...

Zigbert Just to confirm I can repeat the crash at will. I put a few xmessage hellos in the script. I get all of them and the system hangs after hello4. I highlighted the xmessage commands to make it easier. I'll try on a clean boot with Puppy 400. I'm using Xorg on this machine, I'll try on another...

Bruce B, Wow, isn't life simple when you know how! Fantastic. I tried the gxine command you gave but that gave me a segmentation fault, so I tried the command with xine instead. Worked fine and with DVD menus. I just spent the morning playing with mplayer, it worked, but DVD menus are not good. Than...

You can fix it like this, - boot Puppy - you'll stop at the terminal prompt, but you have a booted linux system, so all commands are available. - enter the command vi /root/.xinitrc to edit the file - find the offending # and remove it - then save the file by MAJ ZZ (-I think - read the vi help for ...

What app will play a DVD ISO saved on hd?
Hi, I usually copy DVDs to my hard drive and store them in the original ISO format, so not compressed (yes, I have a lot of space). How can I read these files in Puppy 4 so that when I double click the file the film starts automatically? For example, in Ubuntu, Kaffeine can do this. I tested gxine, ...
