No mention of Puppy but still generalisations of Puppy description.
Almost down to the same description Puppy users are used too.
Interesting stuff. I'm back to the shadows now.

gcmartin, The ntp call is to a 'pool' addresses of servers hard coded in the function psync, at the top. Look at top of that, as a test comment out the pool local to you and add your ntp server address. Try synching and see what happens, that's all I can suggest. If you use 'Europe' then comment out...

I still can't understand why both programs did what they did. I was most careful. Anyway, testdisk deep scan found my work partition and restored it. However my Puppy iso's and savefiles were nowhere to be found. It did find very, very old Windows files :? I also realised it had removed the extended...

How to recover deleted partitions?
I'm lost here after a couple of baffling moves. My original setup had 8 partitions up to sda8. sda1 was my boot partition containing my save files etc for my various iso's. I wanted to delete a partition so opened gparted. I selected sda5 to delete and confirmed before carrying out the operation. Th...

I was asked why the change. Well, on startup firewallstate retrieves the external IP address and the internal LAN IP. Then stops accessing after placing them in /tmp, this saves further processing. On a reboot this information is refreshed, no problem, the information is correct. However, if, as I d...

A new search engine site is hoping to grow. It's called YaCy It's based on Open Source ideals. There's a report on the BBC news site here The search web page is here. It's overloaded at the moment but will pop up if you retry a few times. YaCy (pronounced "Ya See") is supported by the Free...

Hmmm, modded and moved. It was a present for nooby, never mind. Lobster, Ghostery was taken over. I carefully read the terms etc and they specifically do not track you. They ask if you want to help by being tracked but that's an opt in option. There's a full page mission statement. Unless they chang...

Ghostery - blocks web tracking
I've been playing with Ghostery. What is Ghostery? Ghostery is a browser tool available for Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera and Internet Explorer. It scans the page for scripts, pixels, and other elements and notifies the user of the companies whose code is present on the page. These page elements ar...

The chat would be only visible to signed in members of the forum, in the case of my forum it's at the bottom of the threads in a separate window area. I can see the need for trusted mods on the chat from around the world and with time to spare for this forum. However I do feel there is a sense of se...
