2012 PC [8GB RAM] running Precise-5.6.1 ... 1. I've been experiencing the same/similar problem: infrequently, and apparently at random moments in time: a. All activity feezes, and in response I hold in the power button to power-off and then power-on again. 2. Seemingly at random, Precise-5.6.1 fail...

Re: USB Flash Drive Quality
Sandisk : I used to purchase many of these but I found the quality to be hit or miss. I have personally lost data on at least 2 Sandisk drives that I have not been able to recover. I agree that SanDisk is hit-and-miss I had an 8 GB SanDisk Cruzer a little while ago that causes the Microsoft USB too...

Re: Version 14.1 announced on Distrowatch yesterday
No pun intended!gcmartin wrote:Anyone notice that this is a "regressed" version of Puppy Linux? And that it also addresses an options to use their proxy for safe passage and internet "touch"?
Even though its regress from their earlier version, its a PUP.

I have a monster problem: I tried to make a Puppy build with Woof, but when trying to build one of certain bases, (based on X, Y or Z) it fails to download tons of files and some packages are impossible to get, even if I Google until I'm blue in the face, arms and legs! IIRC, /.1download failed to d...

The way I see it, is that Barry will probably stick to the latest version of Ubuntu that still uses Xorg. MIR will probably be only considered once Xorg is no longer maintained and everyone else have moved to MIR (which isn't going to happen over night - even if MIR is mature and production-ready t...

RJARRRPCGP Puppy is born!
Just got a successful 3.4.29 kernel compilation, with RT too!
My sound was wiped out. Because I'm required to compile the sound as modules! Fixed now!

My Precise Puppy build resulted in the intel driver (or its dependencies) being corrupted! (Or its dependencies missing.) Trying to correct it with xorgwizard results in a crash with a blinking cursor on the top left. When xorg loaded, I always got stinking VMWare llvmpipe! I don't want any llvmpipe...

Make sure SSE is enabled in the bios I never heard of a board BIOS where you can turn off SSE. No such option with most boards. And for AMD users: If the Athlon chip you have don't have SSE1, it means it's a T'bird or earlier. Only Palomino and later have SSE1. All Athlon XPs have SSE1. SSE2 didn't...

You don't need any of these ... I don't know what the heck you're trying to do, but Puppy has everything you need in order to run roar-ng II. If you don't have Git you can always download a tarball via GitHub. Thank you. Was just dealing with PPM issues and just reinstalled Slacko 5.4 last n...

Does Slacko 5.4 have most of the required dependencies already? I know it don't have git and aria2. But PPM will tell me that git is installed already! :? And Python appears to not be installed, despite PPM claims there's Python installed already. :? I had it up to my knees with PPM! :x Now, does Sl...

But that, I kind of expected as I was booting it on a dual-core amd processor PC. But.... That PC will NOT run 64bit applications as it was built with a 32bit buss. All dual core AMDs support 64-bit. I'm not aware of AMD possibly disabling 64-bit except for some maybe some Semprons. That's not corr...
