I got the same problem and had it already a year or longer ago.
I did not try anymore to run Puppy in a VirtualBOX but I still really like to.

I run Lucid 5.2 in virtual box however I can not use very friendly the mouse. I seems that the X settings are not well respected?
I even tried to setup X with very low resolution though I got 22" monitors...

Dear readers, first I could bring Puppy V5.xy to save settings. With forum's help I finally could. Had to add to my frugal grub4dos install a pfix=nox. After going manually into X and making things I prefer I could restart and reboot Puppy with saved settings. This went good for two times I think so...

Add "pfix=nox" to the end of the kernel line of your GRUB entry. Boot. This will take you as far as a command prompt. Type "poweroff". Now you should see the dialog for creating a savefile. Remove the "pfix=nox". This is what I did and it worked right the way ! Thanks ...
