Sunburned! ### The best quick advice is; get another version of Puppy immediately. Guess that's it for Puppy, at least on the one machine, as Lupu was the only puppy that would run it in the desired fashion. But as Sunburn says, I'm just a user and I can't have Puppy/ Firefox crashing or burning my ...

I also noticed this phenomenon awhile back. Started with the usual 512mb which had to be increased a few times to 692 personal space (704 mb file) with 173 free at the moment. I run no mail app but do a lot of browsing, multiple tabs, etc. Using gdmap and opening file system, root is about 275, var ...

I definitely don't want to access the HDD since my ability to reinstall XP is hopeless and I need all the stuff on Windows intact especially now at tax time. So the _save file is on the flash drive - 8g so ok for now but useless too soon! I'll need some coaching on your symlink suggestion. The big f...

Hi Capicoso. The answer to your question is yes and no! I got one machine to run bitcoin (on Slacko 531) but my favourite pc is quite cranky (will only run on 528 (dual screen) or 511 (mono screen), neither of which want to run the bitcoin app. Well, at least one works. I got into problems though (o...

Having another go at this project but am stuck on the qt thing. The 528 quickpet / PPM doesn't list qt (can't be found by search). There's a mention of this file here but I can't understand what it points to (sfs? pet?) or what to do with this info) http://puppylinux.org/wikka/bitcoin Hmm.... well, ...

I don't normally think i'm expert enough to answer posts but noticed your post on dual monitors. Try here: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=79870 Hopefully if all 'dual monitor' problems are in one thread, it will make it easier for others and may encourage Puppy developers to create a s...

Thanks Barkin, Makoto for clarifying what's what. I see the Puppy Package Manager (under 'utility') can install Acrobat Reader 9.3.3, which should meet the above criteria, however, it will occupy too much space on my system (149kb, 28kb left!) The Foxit reader didn't appear to qualify and seemed too...

The solution was sitting under my nose all the time. Simply add all the bookmarks into a new folder placed on the bookmarks toolbar (which you select to be present in the View/ Toolbars menu). Add some other bookmarks above/ to the left of your BOOKMARKS folder so as to move the folder 2/3 the way a...

Hi Ally I think you're probably right. It said cache was 144mb so I set it to 77 and it now says 7mb! Also the GdMap shows that root went down to 209mb and the Mozilla directory is 115mb. That's a big difference. The widget is still flashing but I'll try a reboot...... back in a moment...... edit: F...

Puppy misbehaving?
Yesterday I got a red warning that I was low in memory (8mb remaining) and the widget memory thing on the taskbar was flashing. I also noticed that my Firefox wanted to install something on startup and the bookmarks went missing. I deleted a bunch of large files in /mnt/home (flashdrive sdc1) and th...

Hi Munsie. In order to answer your question, I'll have to visit a local hypnotist! I certainly gave your pet a try but can't recall without said trance whether I went to xorgwizard after a reboot or not (i doubt it though). That was yesterday - 36000 seconds ago! Success at last - even if i don't quite understand why!! All i did was to exit to prompt, run xorgwizard/ probe and set the display to a resolution that the smaller display would accept. Then restarted x (xwin) and it just started with the display across both screens. Since I'd been fooling around w...

Hi Monsie I can't find that ldconfig file anywhere (using pfind), either in puppy 528 or 511. There's an ldconfig directory but no file by that name. In wary 511, there isn't any menu item to run the driver (nvidia-linux-x89-310.19.run) in a terminal! I tried 'opening a terminal here' and typing the...
