Define "Boring"
Ever since version 1.07, Puppy has not "just worked" as claimed for my computer. I loved how easy 1.07 was, and it was as advertised. But each time a new version comes out after that, it wouldn't work on my computer. If I want to stay current, I had to continually tweek my system, sometime...

Looks really good !
I just downloaded, booted up, and it looks really good. I couldn't get 2.12 to recognize my ethernet connection on my new Thinkpad T60, but version 2.13 connected without a problem.

My $0.02, Me and I suspect others are still using Puppy 1.0X because a pup001 file can be saved onto NTFS, while pup_save.3fs cannot. That feature was really something that, for me, distinguished puppy linux from all the other live cd OS's, like DSL, SLAX, etc. In the meantime, I'm still using puppy...

Thanks for your help guys, I started working on this this morning, but boy something happened, I tried to go to the turboprint web-site and everything started locking up. I rebooted back up on my puppy 109CE and all worked fine, but I couldn't get back to murga.org forum for awhile. Not sure what ha...

This may be a silly question but did you click the TPsetup ADD button - because you only see the printer selection after doing this - otherwise TPsetup just shows previously installed printers (in your case - blank -) Not a silly question, because as a newbie, I have done a lot of silly things. But...

Thanks dewdrop! Sounds like you have done some blazing down this trail before. I tried to follow the instructions listed in your post. I probably screwed something up, being new to linux. Here is what I did: 1. Make folder /root/my-applications/cups and into it put cups-install.tar.gz - 2. use rxvt ...

Downloaded the new Puppy 2 last night and ran it from the live CD. Worked great until I shut down, which just hung up after the poweroff line to a blinking curser. I've read of this happening on the earlier May 7th release on another thread. See Melmo's post on http://www.murga.org/%7Epuppy/viewtopi...

Thanks so much for responding r__hughes. I do appreciate the help. 3 things to try 1) Is your printer recognized as a valid USB device? on my puppy108r1 system this can be seen by Start/Control Panel/USBview USB Information - highlight entry for details. Yes, is shows up as i560 under the second USB...

Canon i560s (USB) won't print
I am having a problem getting my printer to receive a print job from Puppy 109 or Puppy 2. I have Puppy 2 running from a live CD right now. My printer is a Canon i560s connected via a usb connection. I have successfully been able to get it to work from Ubuntu by using the Canon BJC 7000 selection (C...

I am trying out Puppy2 live CD on my desktop computer that can save the pup_save.3fs on to a linux partition. Set up Icewm and all my favorite preferences. I REALLY like Puppy 2. I think Seamonkey is great. Though I would like to, I have heeded the warnings not to use this on a laptop with only an N...

I use Puppy mostly as a personal OS on my work laptop (that has to have XP pro on a full NTFS hard drive). Puppy has all the good stuff to run on RAM and is unique in being able to save all my stuff, configurations, etc. on a virtual linux drive on my pup001 file on the NTFS C drive. To me, that is ...

I found something new. If I started with a fresh pup001, the Alsa sound worked. When I start with an old pup001 (from my puppy 107), the sound doesn't work. Hmmmm. 1 hour later.......... This probably belongs somewhere else in the forum, but I'm finding something interesting here. On both 108...

I'm sorry Rarsa, I must have been smoking something. I tried 109CE again with my old pup001 file and opened Icewm24.pup; and all the menu items are consistent with 109. Sorry for the false alarm. It was the JWM Dotpups menu that had a few items that I had deleted in the past, and thought were gone. ...

With the disclaimer that I am a real newbie just trying to learn and use Linux and Puppy, I tried out Puppy 109CE on both of my machines (Compaq presario desktop and IBM Thinkpad R40 laptop), both worked great, and I must say I am impressed. I think the team did a great job. That said, I'll probably...
