I got my hands on one of those too. (Inspiron 910) The wireless support under Ubuntu is VERY bad as well, I could not get it working with the wireless network at my mother's house no matter what kind of encryption I tried to set. (Same DHCP problem as you I believe) Without any wep/wpa it would not ...

Re: Where to obtain good TrueType fonts

Finally, you must tell Puppy that the new subdir exists. Open an rxvt window and issue the commands (do not omit the dot at the end of the middle three commands): cd /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF mkfontscale . mkfontdir . fc-cache -fv . xset fp+ /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF Now you have a very capab...

Maybe it is possible to create an image with "partimage" to deploy a large amount of computers.

Anyone has tried this and can give us some advice?

To mount at boot is simple. This could easy have been implemented in pmount...add in /etc/rc.d/rc.local: mount -t ext3 /dev/sda1 /mnt/sda1 By all rights and logic, I think the example you provide should work, but it clearly doesn't in my computer. I suspect it doesn't in any computer. But I'd reall...

Try launching pnethood on the network menu, it may find them for you magically. Thanks HairyWill! It is indeed working, but I was hoping to be able to add it to /etc/rc.d/rc.local to have the folders mounted upon startup. I've been trying with smbmount //<serveraddress>/<sharedfolder> <mountpoint> ...

You should still be able to mount the sfs (I can...)

Once mounted there are 4 folders, the icons are inside /usr/local/lib/x11

How to connect to a OS X Server share?

Hi everyone! I just installed Macpup foxy (full install) and figured out to configure a couple of thins. Now I'd need to connect to some network folders on a Mac OS X server, and some network folders on a Win2003 server (Active directory). I installed the samba 3.0.25 fileserver and client (which do...

I copied them to the openoffice.org3 folder.
I'm a complete noob, so I don't know if this is the way I'm supposed to do it...

However I decided to delete all my icons from the desktop and just use the wbar.
It looks pretty similar to Mac OS X now :)

I found the problem. I set a wrong path to an app, I didn't notice an upper caps X. What I didn't know is that the dock would disappear completely instead of that app not working... I've seen Macpup Dingo full colour icons, but I don't know where to get them. I downloadad your mac icons from the oth...

Thanks CatDude! I just edited the /root/.wbar file, but after I restarted x-server the dock didn't appear anymore. I tried to reboot but it was hanging at the "Puppy is now shutting down..." screen. (Had to pull the plug) Obviously I must have done something wrong, but as simple as it is I...

I found the pngs!

When you mount the sfs file there is yet another folder you need to copy to HD: /usr/local/lib/x11

regards

PS:

Anyone can tell me how to include an icon inside the dock (macpuppy foxy)?

Thanks!

Thanks for this puppy, it looks pretty much like a mac.
I was able to do a full install and I have even open office working.

I would need a little help changing the icons in the dock, because I don't even know where to start.

Thanks!

Why is it so damn difficult to install open office?
I've been trying for a week now and I haven't found a single double click installer like there is for windows.

I've come so far as our friend edoc, but I'm still looking for the png icons.

Any idea where to find these?

Thanks
