Hello, I want to tell my puppy computer to keep running for a given time, e.g. another 60 minutes, and then shutdown. I found this command: shutdown +60 but the puppy commandline tells me: bash: shutdown: command not found The command halt causes an immediate shutdown, but the +60 parameter has no e...

Set XLock Password
Hello, how can I set the password for Xlock? Whenever I click the icon, the screen will lock and prompts me for a password to unlock. I never configured a password, so the only way out is the power-off button. Right-clicking the lock and choosing "configure" lets me choose a type of screen...

run Firefox as normal user "spot" not root?
Hello, I use Puppy 5.7.1 with Firefox 37.0.2 as default browser. The original browser that came with Puppy was configured to be run as user "spot", i.e. a normal user account, not root, for security reasons. How can I configure FF to run in "spot" automatically every time I start...

JWM: Alt-(number) switches desktops. turn off? [SOLVED]
Hello, I'm using Precise Puppy 5.7.1 that comes with JWM and ROX for the desktop, and I generally like this combination. Unfortunately, JWM switches to another Desktop when I press ALT and a number key. This is a drag because I also frequently use MScore where ALT+number key is also a useful keyboar...

Re: how can user "spot" access files outside home directory?
Thank you BruceB, But I wonder if you can execute a Linux executable file on NTFS. I just copied the "defaultcalendar" script from /usr/local/bin to the Windows partition, and it started normally when I clicked it there. However, when I tried chmod it gave me no error message but also had ...

how can user "spot" access files outside home directory?
Hello, I have a dual boot computer with Puppy Precise 5.7.1 and WinXp. Both OSs have Firefox, and in the Linux Firefox installation, I replaced the profile directory with a symlink pointing to the Windows FF profile directory, so I have bookmarks etc. synchronized among the 2 systems. Now I configur...
