This is slightly related: I have puppy on an MSI Wind U100 and it works fine. The function keys often don't work (eg the wireless stays on even if you turn it off via Fn-F11) but pretty much everything else worked out of the box. I wouldn't recommend a 2133 anyway - they look alright and have a nice...

I bet you had ubuntu or some variant on there before puppy right? You need to reformat the main partition in ext3 again from puppy. Apparently some distros do something weird to the partition when they format it and the GRUB version packaged with puppy won't recognise the drive until you format it a...

DIG

Just did this on my MSI wind with the 1.6ghz atom processor in puppy 4.2 final. The GUI works - but it tries to modprobe the speedstep-centrino for the atom processor and it doesn't work (in the console doing that gives that 'device busy' error). Using just the acpi-cpufreq seems to work alright tho...

That site needs a username and password.

Also I might not be understanding correctly - but I'm still using the ROX desktop and just using PCmanfm for the file manager now.

It was a bit of a pain to get it all working (getting all the libs etc) but now that it's working I'm very happy. ROX is such an inadequate file manager it's disgusting - but this makes things a lot easier to use i.e. -full path displayed in editable address bar -tabs -double click open (I have a to...

No wireless at work to test it with - but I'll give it a go when I get home. Although it's probably a good thing that I changed over to WPA at home to avoid this issue - I'll no doubt need to be able to use WEP at some stage.

For anybody else having this problem, and there seems to be a lot, the only way I could get wireless working on my MSI Wind with the ralink wireless was to change my access point security protocol to WPA-PSK rather than WEP. No matter what I did with WEP it wouldn't work, and I tried passphrases, HE...

I'm getting the exact same problem on my MSI wind with the ralink 2700 card. Scan works, picks up the networks with good strength. If the WEP is enabled then I can't get a dhcp address, but if I turn WEP off then it works straight away. I tried prefixing the WEP key with s: but it didn't make any di...

I'm a complete linux noob and I'm the first to admit it; but I need to learn to use it properly. I got the entire way through a software engineering degree without learning how to use linux at all. My story is that I bought an MSI Wind for a toy - I don't need anything on it - it's not my main compu...
