Ghostscript is a cross platform clone to render and print using the Postscript scripting language.

One of the uses is to render PDF files for printing and screen-rendering.

Basically a lot of PDF readers use it as well as CUPS to print I believe.

Since the default text editor (Geany) in Puppy is these things:

1) A GUI
2) A front end to compile programs (there is even a big COMPILE button).
3) A front end to build executables.

Among other things...

Then, sorry to be dense, but wasn't that what the OP wanted in a nutshell?

That's probably the first time I have posted in that way outside of OT threads. I take your point about constructive posting however.

What does any of that have to do with ttuuxxx's Puppies 4.31.1 ? I think, buried in the post at the end is a bit about Dial up. But I can't be sure due to the breathless nature of the post. Maybe they want a classic dial-up acoustic coupler? Or maybe they just want to go TA DA!!! And leave it at th...

I'd be inclined to change the thread title since it is erroneous. Old style CRT screens can and do fail if they are set to too high a frequency which normally results in a nasty smell and smoke, although most recent models come with a built-in fail-safe to prevent this. However, LCD screens don't su...

Re: War President Obombya to collect Peace Prize soon

Erm. Jesuit logic? A term commonly used to describe twisted logic that attempts to use argument to "prove" things things that may not be true. One schooled in Jesuit Logic could make a case that the sun rises in the west and sets in the east. Many folks with an agenda use that type of log...

Oh....and then the explanation would be O-T, since the original post wasn't technical. It's clear now, as most Jesuit logic is upon closer examination.
Erm. Jesuit logic? As in Christian logic? *boggles*

I doubt it. Probably some function call to control the screensaver on Gnome (so it doesn't start halfway through a presentation)...which it can't find since you are not using Gnome :P I'd ignore it.

This looks like a great online "book" on using the gnu autotools, which should be useful for people working on projects in c, c++ or similar: Autotools: a practitioner's guide to Autoconf, Automake and Libtool I am having a look now. Heaps easier to use as an end user than CMake IMHO, but...
