Printer configuration

I read about the improved printer support in the new release of Puppy, but my printer still does not seem to be on the list. The switch to Gutenprint now means some Samsung printers will work with Puppy, but my model, the ML-2010, is not one of them. The ML-2010 does have Linux drivers, so the print...

Okay. When I get some time to play around with it, I'll give one of these a try (either Puppy or Vector probably, as I've never had much luck installing straight Debian).

related yet different question

Here's a related question I don't think I've quite seen answered anywhere as yet. (Although it's possible my search was not quite refined enough to uncover the information.) I have an old laptop on which the CD-ROM has apparently died (at least the controller cable is apparently dead, as replacing t...

In looking at the JWM forum, I see they aren't any closer to fixing it or having any ideas of how to fix it. That means that two window managers are less than optimum for my use in Puppy 1.0.9CE .- JWM because of the mouse (or in my case, touchpad)/menu problem and Fluxbox because my touchpad automa...

Apparently this problem is specific to Fluxbox on my machine, as it does not take matters into its own hand when I am in JWM. Anyone have any guess as to why that would be?

SnowDog, Flash - Thanks for your help. I think the problem is in Puppy 1.0.9CE. I rebooted the machine in Feather Linux last night, and the touchpad behaved correctly. I even left the cursor over a Close Application button to see if it would act without my directing it to, and it did not. Another th...

run in a consolewindow ripperX Then you might see potential error-messages. You can kill it then by pressing "CTRL-C" in the consolewindow. I have no Audio-CD here, so I cannot test myself. What for errors do you get? Mark I get a 'ripperX_plugin-oggenc: not found' even though I am able t...

Walt. What I meant by hardware was, the make model etc., of your machine. I have had quite afew of these touchpads mis-behave in puppy and have no idea what to do to fix it. I just thought if I had a machine the same, I could see if it was specific to yours, or common to the brand/make etc. Sorry. ...

Flash: I'm actually in 1.0.9CE as I couldn't get my wireless configured in Puppy. I still have Feather Linux installed on this machine, and I booted into it a week or so ago for a little while thinking I would try to get wireless working on it, and everything seemed to work fine. I will, though, giv...

I spoke too soon

install (58 kb): http://dotpups.de/dotpups/Multimedia/Oggenc.pup Then choose ogg in the RipperX options. Mark Well, it doesn't seem to work for me. I open RipperX and select ogg in the options. The process starts, but it hangs at 99% of the first song. I can't stop the process, nor can I close the ...

it might be a hardware problem ... a switch may be closing erratically when it is not supposed to be ... perhaps because of noise in the circuits, because of a bad connection, or a bad transistor or diode or resistor or capacitor ... the mechanical microswitches on a mouse button can get like that ...

Re: New "Mean Puppy" released ...

meanPuppy.tar.gz is a "pack" that builds this "Mean Puppy" if unpacked alongside the "Unleashed" install (as the patches in this version are so extensive I have included the version of "unleashed" used). At a glance : <list edited> Mozilla is replaced by Oper...

anyone?

I gather from the deafening silence :) that no one else has experienced this problem. Either that, or there is no cure. Still, there must be a file I can look at and/or edit to set some sort of delay before I am redirected just by having my cursor in the wrong spot. Thoughts on this? Anyone? Thanks.

How to rip CDs to OGG?

Can I rip CDs to OGG using any of the GUI tools that come in Puppy? (I am using 1.09CE at present.) I see that RipperX apparently could rip to OGG (or other file formats) if the necessary plug-in were included. I saw where Dougal had a dotpup that apparently included the necessary libraries, but I g...

touchpad automatically redirects in Fluxbox?

I'm using Puppy 1.09CE on an old laptop, and it works great except for one annoying feature. If I leave the cursor over any spot on the screen where an action can take place, that action is automatically taken after a second or two. If the cursor is on a web page link, it automatically redirects me ...

Oddly enough, it felt like 2.0 actually booter faster on my ancient machine. The only problem was that I could not use Xorg with 2.0; the boot would freeze.
