mencoder

Hello Kirk,
The wrong ELF class means that you have a 32bit version of libdv installed, maybe the 32bit sfs?
Right you are, I have it loaded at startup.

i will keep that lives_support package in mind

Thanx

bug mplayer-1.0rc4

Hello everyone, mencoder misses libraries for mencoder. Only the 32 bit ones are installed. I downloaded the package to check the contents and used pet2tgz but could not unpack, I got an error. I installed the 64 bit libraries from a former backed up install. On fatdog 621: ldd -v /usr/bin/mencoder ...

minor bug wallpaper setter

On the verge of nagging: It can't handle wallpaper names with spaces. Rename a wallpaper in /usr/share/backgrounds so it has a space in the name, select, apply. Then again start the wallpaper setter in the control panel and nothing happens. Remove the space from the name and do ctrl alt backspace an...

power wireless adapter

heywoodj and jamesbond, Some time ago I did some research on this matter. To my similar experience and other linux-users at work the linux workers always disconnect from wireless sooner when working in a group of windos users. I also was not able to adjust these driver settings to make a difference....

xlock minor bug

I got a minor bug here I think. I use xcompmgr for some desktop bling and when I start xlock the desktop freezes and I have to escape with ctrl alt backspace. It looks like the -grabserver option in /root/.config/Xlock/xlockscreenparams is the cause. Removing this option solves the issue for me. Don...

Thanks Jamesbond, yeah I missed that, thanks for the info. As always time is the issue. Would love to be able to put more time in fatdog, though, it's worth it.

jack audio kit

I discovered I had no sound and found out that disabeling script /etc/init.d/jackd solved the issue. I tried renaming jackd so it would come after alsa, and with a big sleep in the script but this did not help. I think I installed jack audio kit because it was required by another package (mplayer? N...

split initrd and LUKS

Hello Jamesbond, encountered the following two issues in beta2, and is probably related to the bug I reported last week. 1-when I start the system sfs loader, the fd64-620.sfs is listed in available sfs files, but obviously it is already loaded. Not a problem, but a bit confusing. 2-I get an error w...

Well done Jamesbond! EDIT: here is the fixed split-initrd. Please give it a try and see if that works for you. The bug is squashed :D I ran your script without errors, the big initrd got split into a small initrd and the fd64-620.sfs, I copied them to the root of the sdcard and rebooted. Entered the...

Jamesbond,

I just tried the big initrd on the sdcard and you are right, this time the savefile loads. Does this mean that the split-off fd64-620.sfs loads to late ? Or to be more specific, dmcrypt needs something that should be in de small initrd but got split off in the fd64-620.sfs?

cheers

dm-crypt save file

Hello Jamesbond The answers to your query: 1. How does the machine access the SD card? Is it via in-built reader, or do you use external card reader connected via USB? in-built 2. In any case, once you booted Fatdog, what is the name of the device - do you see it just as a disk ("sdb1", or...

dm-crypt save file

Need some help here, I'm stuck. I used the fatdog64-620b2-cd to make an install on a sdcard, with bootloader syslinux. All works fine but I can not use a dm-crypt save file. At first boot I made an encrypted save file, and rebooted. I booted without boot parameters, choose the new savefile on the sd...

raspberrian kernel in puppy

You copied the entire kernel? So not only the firmware in /lib/firmware. I can try that too but I would like to stick with the original 3.1.6-cutdown kernel from Barry. Did he not use T2 source? I think I read something like that but can't remember where. Thanks for the tips woodenshoe , I will give...

Re: wifi

My wifi dongle worked in Raspberrian so I did a lsmod from the command line to figure out which kernel module it was using. Although it wasn't listed in Puppy's network module list I could load it by clicking on the "More" tab and then on the "Specify" button, but it still could...
