Re: How do I define "persistent" bash aliases?

Starting a new terminal or running the file from the terminal didn't work (or maybe I did something wrong). But after a reboot the aliases defined in .bashrc were loaded when i opened the terminal :) Running a script (like .bashrc) by name like that really means "load a child shell, run this s...

rga wrote:Hi everyone,
I have tried putting them in ~/.bash_aliases as I do in Ubuntu, and I have also tried to put them in ~/.bashrc but i can't get them to work.
.bashrc should work, but you'd have to start a new term (or source the dotfile) to see it in the current session.

Re: Is Google-Chrome a totally CRAP browser?

And as everyone knows, browsers are all about bookmarks! An odd claim. I've used browsers since Mosaic and don't remember anyone making (much less supporting) that claim before. * One might make a counterclaim that browsers are "all about" fitting on a 1.44MB floppy; Opera used to be famo...

Sandvine and other folks in the business say those things for money.

Why users carry water for them is less clear. Probably the same reason people forward misinformed, manipulative, highly emotional email chain letters that could easily be fact-checked with a 5-second google search.

Think about it.

I've never used Ekiga, but from their website I get the impression calling landlines and mobile phones is available: I do use Ekiga on my *buntu desktop, although I actually prefer the lighter Twinkle client much of the time. I'm hoping the hardware LED still starts blinking at 20%.

Re: past sfs's

Hi All I was just about to say I have a bug then read the post about incompatible sfs's. But did not think that was going to affect the save files. At one time I think I remember puppylinux offering to upgrade a save file or something like that. If I was to rename it to the new name system would it...

I.e. if you install software from the Puppy 3 repo, then when you go to uninstall it you'd need to have the Puppy 3 repo selected before clicking to uninstall.
Didn't know that. Thanks for throwing it out there.

^I think you are referring to file encryption within the file system. I am referring to an option to encrypt and password protect the save file on a USB install.
