Ok Mike! Since you are making a commendable effort to get into trouble with Opera again, I will be happy to provide the impetus. It is the least I can do after your generous gesture to jump into the fray once again. So let me start at the beginning or even the very beginning as the case may be. The l...

Opera will not launch due to "insufficient priviledges."
I installed the latest version of Opera yesterday by using the quickpet shortcut on the desktop of a xenialpup64 installation. All went well but today, after rebooting, I get the message Can't open user profile directory, because you lack sufficient privileges. You might want to contact the administ...

Unable to install Firefox in Tahr64 6.0.5
While attempting a test drive of trahr64 6.0.5, I downloaded the latest firefox esr, unpacked it into /root/my-applications, and subsequently failed in all of my efforts to launch it either from the command line or from a desktop shortcut. Any idea as to what I did wrong?

How to add login and password to Tahrpup 6.0.5? [SOLVED]
Due to an unexpected turn of events, it has become necessary to add a password when booting Tahrpup 6.0.5. A search of relevant threads produced the following (http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?search_id=342045328&t=21338): If for some reason you want Puppy to stop require a login and p...

Well, it is time to take stock. I was warned of what was to come by MochiMoppel when he quipped in his first post of this thread don't expect too much. Then in his next post framed the why of his statement more accurately It seems that tahrpup uses a half-baked JWM version. As most puppies it ships ...

After a few more minor adjustments, I can say that the matter of modifying tray color has been settled satisfactorily, while that of adjusting opacity has been abandoned, especially in view of what LazY Puppy said in his earlier post. There remains, however, the matter of how to modify button appear...

With a plethora of suggestions and little time to devote to them, I decided to take the easy path and follow some of the teachings of MochiMoppel. Thus, after some minor tinkering, I edited /root/.jwm/jwmrc-theme as follows: 1. Under <TrayStyle> I edited the last line so as to read <Background>gold:...

How can I change the appearance of jwm trays?
In trying to personalize a Tahrpup 6.0.5 installation, I ran into the need to change the background color of the existing as well as a newly created jwm tray from the default white to something else, say blue. At the same time, changing the tray's opacity from 1 to, say, 0.5 holds some promise of he...

How to replace or modify a desktop icon? [SOLVED]
For the "replace" part, I have found the following from a Google search: Right-click on a desktop icon and select: File 'nameoficon' > Set Icon...; then drag a chosen .png file from a relevant ROX-Filer window into the box that has opened. This recipe seems to work fine with the desktop ic...

Unfortunately nothing positive to report. Trying first blacklist=nouveau and then the other two suggested lines did not succeed as I got back the same message about a missing kernel image. I let puppy start and reached the xorgwizard which was prompting me to choose one of three kernel drivers, i.e....
