I would guess that there is a mismatch between what you have installed on your hard drive and the contents of your menu.lst file. You might want to consider another install approach. I was just wondering how i could manually renew the DHCP lease. If you right click your desktop, go to setup then click on Network Wizard. Choose your interface (likely either eth0 or wlan0) and there should be two relevant options - 'Auto DHCP', or you can manually set an address under 'Static IP'...

It probably means that the file /boot/vmlinuz is somehow corrupted. You can try manually copying a fresh copy from the Live CD. Or you might want to consider this install procedure.
