run 2 instances of thunderbird?

Hi, I was just wondering if it is possible to run thunderbird as root and as another user at the same time, with different settings.
This would be very usefull to get my parents also to use thunderbird.

Thanks

I have the same problem here, so what should I try? I don't really like the idea to just reinstall.
I have type 2 hd install puppy 1.0.8.r1
The problem started after I (succesfully :D ) installed my hp scanjet 3970.
