I used the Prename, batch file renamer to rename a bunch of files. After booting with the devx.sfs Prename stopped working. This is because the devx contains a perl script named prename in /usr/bin, overriding prename in /usr/local/bin. I solved the problem by entering the full path in the .desktop ...

I don't really know what causes the glitch you're having. It's most likely software related.

This scenario is higly unlikely.

It's all about how paranoid you're determined to be.

I think it's my old crappy mouse. Sometimes the pointer jumps around like crazy all over the screen. The electrons get lost on their way to the cpu. :wink:

It's Fredrik Reinfeldt! He found out who you voted for and now he's going to assimilate you! :evil:

Seriously, it's just a glitch. It's happened to me a few times. I wouldn't worry about it.

I'd better post this here too. Since quirky 008 my rt73usb refused to make any connection with my WPA2 network. I installed arch and had the same problems, but on the arch forums someone posted a fix that solved it. Tried it with quirky 018 yesterday and it worked. Just enter: iwconfig wlan0 power o...

My rt73usb refused to connect with quirky 018. Someone on the Arch forums had a solution that worked.

Code: Select all

iwconfig wlan0 power off
After that it connects fine.

Code: Select all

sudo cp /tmp/initrd.gz /pup-431/
Also: ~/ means the path to your home directory:

Code: Select all

~/files

is the same as

Code: Select all

/home/nooby/files
/root is the root users home directory.

The root of the filesystem is the top directory where the /bin, /opt, /etc directories are.

Here's what's in the file. Copy and paste if that's easier.

Code: Select all

#!/bin/sh
SWAPLIST=`cat /proc/swaps | tail -n +2 | cut -f 1 -d " "`
for S in $SWAPLIST; do
  swapoff $S
done

Save it to disk first. You might want to use it some other time. Then unzip it. You can run it from wherever you save it.

Swapoff doesn't always work but the script in the last post here will always work:

Unzip it and run it:

Code: Select all

./myswapoff.sh
