Re: Not sure it's just gparted problem
It's not a "grub boot problem" as far as I can tell. I have grub installed in its' own partition on my pc and add new installs to the menulst manually. (...) Gparted in 4.3.1 creates partitions with a 256 inode size, instead of the usual 128 that puppy needs. I believe, it IS sort of Grub...

zigbert: The savefile I used when I encountered the bug is gone and I haven't been able to reproduce the bug with another savefile even with the old version of Pfind. So, I apologize, probably something went wrong just in my old savefile. BTW - is it necessary to uninstall the old version to install...

Pfind sometimes not accepting PARTS of filenames
There seems to be a curious bug in Pfind in Puppy 4.21. Sometimes , when I input a directory to exclude from searchpath AND specify filetype ("Pictures" in my case), it doesn't find anything if I enter just a part of a filename without asterisks before and after. I don't know what it depen...

Hello, John! Thanks a lot for your advices! (BTW, as for me, I'm new to linux, yet I know how to comment out a command in a script :-) ) If I may ask a question more, I'd like to know, whether it's possible to set my default file manager to be konqueror insted of rox. (Really looking forward to see ...

Hi. I confess I find TEENpup really impressive and would like to ask several questions. Has anybody managed to connect Asus EEEPC 1000H to internet in TEENpup, either via ethernet or wifi (rt2860sta)? (Me not, even wrapped Windows drivers don't work, TEENpup detects no network interfaces. Has anybod...

I used to do that a lot and never had any problems. But that's not the same as saying it's safe. There's always the chance that something could go wrong. The thing to consider is whether any programs are running that might write to the disk, such as the browser, email client, any program that autos...

www.puppylinux.org/downloads/official-releases in Opera
At http://www.puppylinux.org/downloads/official-releases Opera displays no images. The strange thing is, previously, it did.
Other browsers displays the even now.

How do I delete a swap partition?
I wanted to delete a linux swap partition from HD using Gparted in Puppy 4.3 booted from USB FD. Gparted didn't allow me to do so as the swap was in use an recommend me to run swapoff -a. I entered the command in console, Puppy accepted it, yet Gparted refused to delete the swap partition just like ...

Accessing ext3 from Windows
Do you write to ext3 partitions used by Puppy from Windows? Successfully? By what means? (For some reason (on 3 different machines), both ext2fsd and ext2ifs work for me only exceptionally, in most cases the mounted drives are not accessible, PC reports them to be not formated, although read-only ac...

I've just tried 476 out quite quickly. On different machines, I see no icons in menu in Xorg. In Xvesa it's OK, but Puppy cannot shut the computer down (or reboot it), it just restarts X instead, trying to shut down X restarts it instead as well. I've tried to install circa 10 Ubuntu packages, in al...

Pizzasgood: Thank you!
Btw, I've come across a quite recent important Barry's statement related to my initial question about flushing memory into savefiles - http://puppylinux.com/blog/?viewDetailed=00594 . Yet, it's still not clear to me what's the state of affairs for recent Puppies (4.21, 4.3).

Re: Missing programs and internet connection
Hope you could fix your problem cichlasoma, I'm sure you have to copy zp430305.sfs to HD. I do believe you. I apologize for not trying the solution yet, but normally I don't boot from CD (I've experimented mainly with Flash disk and hard drive frugal installations) and even more importantly - I man...

You can safely copy a save file that is in use - when you boot from the copy it will just tell you X didn't exit correctly and type xwin to start it. Is it really safe even in case of a frugal install on a hard drive , especially when other processes run at the same time (which, as far as I can und...
