dial up

I am trying to help a friend get Linux on his Dell computer. I have downloaded the latest version of Puppy (3.0) and burned it to a CD. Everything is fine until we try to connect to the internet. Puppy says it recognizes his modem, a Hayes Acura 56k Fax modem- model 808-03357, but it will not connec...

tempestuous.

Wow!

I'm afraid these instructions are a bit beyond my understanding. I think we'll install a standard Hayes compatible modem and see if that works.

Thanks for your input.

Thanks for the prompt response. I'll give it a shot.

I have several standard type modems which I no longer need so, if all else fails, I might be able to convince my friend to install one.

Puppy doesn't recognize BCM V.90 56k modem

After months of telling my friend about the virtues of Linux over Windows, he agreed to give it a try. I downloaded Seamonkey with full drivers and burned a CD. It installed without a hitch except that it did not recognize his modem! Needless to say, I was embarrased. Does anyone have a fix for this...

Installing Puppy on 256MB stick

I would really like to install Puppy on a Lexar 256 mb stick as a 'carry with me' OS. I run Ubuntu as my primary OS but that is too large for my stick..

So far, I haven't been able to find instructions on how to do this. Can anyone direct me to a place to find instructions?

Upgrading to latest version

I burned a new Multisession DVD, booted it, and said it was an updated session. When asked I inserted the DVD for ver 1.08 and there was a lot of activity saying data was being saved to 'root'. Then it asked me for a password. Didn't have a clue and after trying any I could think of (without success...

upgrade to new version

I screwed up! I had done the download and created the multiple session on a different computer. Then booted the other computer with Puppy DVD. At this time I did get a message asking me if this was a new installation and I said 'yes'. When I exited, the changes got saved to the DVD so when I Booted ...

upgrading from 1.08 to newest ver

I have been running Puppy ver 1.08 from a multisession DVD. I just downloaded the latest version and created a new multisession DVD.

Do I have to start from scratch in setting up the new version or is there a way to coppy old settings?
