Cheers Jemimah that solved it. One other thing people might find useful is that installing puppeee to its own frugal directory the kernel wasn't picked up by grub2 with the command update-grub. so you have to edit the grub file manually in the host distro in my case ubuntu sudo gedit /etc/grub.d/40_...

traytemp is a nice idea, just one minor suggestion: Hows about another suggestion ;) - make the traytemp icon look like a small netbook ala fewt's acpi-utils then it can change colour according to fan temp and retain the temp osd. then right clicking opens up eee-control without having to goto the ...

Hokal, can you check if the Fan script is actually starting when you switch to powersave? The command is 'ps -ef |grep fan'. If you change the thresholds, switch to performance mode, then back to powersave, and it should work. It does work I know what hokal means the first time you select it the fa...

The fonts look ok to me. Have you tried adjusting the global font size? yes it helps but they do not look as good as the deb version from http://www.google.co.uk/chrome the fonts look great when this is installed to eeebuntu. But the pet version I used for puppeee (googlechrome-004) I think has tin...

Cimh, you've been running Chrome longer than I have, any stability issues? I dont think its ever crashed on me in 3 months linux use. (FF crashed today on me so In my experience is more solid than ff) and its at least twice as fast as the competitors. FF with meekat goes a long way to giving you mo...

Browsers - I am copying my mail from the other forum. where I benchmarked the main browsers: these show that chrome is easily the fastest. ff with meerkat is ok on a small screen. I agree that html editing is the only reason I like seamonkey - but how many of us do that? and recently I have used scr...

I have the same problem with my 901. Only SOMETIMES after booting the display is distorted and the 901 dies completely. My remedy: When the display appears, just move your mouse around and open any window. Strange, but then this fault will not happen! I never mentioned this, because I thought it mi...

Thanks Jemimah and Hokal On shutdown my eee creates the save file fine. I guess it is the ext4 which stops it getting picked up on boot. Perhaps Jemimah you shouldn't bust a gut over this as the most recent phoronix tests with the newer kernals =>31 show that ext3 was faster than 4 in more than 1/2 ...

@ cimh Does eeebuntu use the newer grub2? Hi Trapster. Eeebuntu3 is based on ubuntu 9.04 and still uses the older grub. Grub2 became default on ubuntu9.10. the Eeebuntu team became fed up trying to keep up with the 6 monthly cycle of ubuntu and are building eb4 from debian. but yes worth checking. ...
