Hi Sky. For Firefox sound issues, try running:
apulse firefox
Works for me with my .pet files above. Some sites will require also DRM & will ask permission to activate it.

I use emelfm - old, simple, dual-pane without drag & drop - actions via middle tree buttons. PCManFM is good (apart from a strange undocumented 'safety feature' - if you rename a folder in the main folder / , have to press F5 to update view).

To find which kernel you are using, in a terminal run: uname -a Note: you don't say whether your Puppy is 32bit or 64bit. There are many pre-made 'huge kernels' available, BUT NOT ALL ARE SUITABLE for your Puppy version. See: https://archive.org/download/Puppy_Linux_Huge-Kernels Updating a full inst...

olaf, the method for changing kernels is part of the link 2 posts up. A 4.1 kernel is quite old & you would need to try an old puppy (tahrpup/xenialpup?). Then you would still need a driver compiled. As for your link, it refers to development at github, which is where I got my source that didn't...

Sorry olaf, that's got me beat. We never heard back from the original poster, so not sure it worked for her either. You could try another kernel. I have a 4.14.162-pae one here: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=1046941#1046941 Your usb driver for that kernel is here: http://s000.tiny...

@lateadopter - a dirty hack would be to put modprobe lp in /usr/sbin/delayedrun as the second last line & restart

olaf, before we change kernels, I downloaded later source & made a new driver. Boot up, uninstall old driver, plug in usb wireless, then run .pet which is here: http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=189 ... 1401562382

That is the correct driver for your usb stick. The firmware error 'partially covers' may be an issue. I had never seen that before, until earlier today, with someone using an iMac. That, despite being the correct driver, is also unresolved. Perhaps a later kernel may help, but you'd need a driver fo...

@mikprog - I sometimes do similar quick & dirty hacks. Whilst not ideal, sometimes it's for the best. Several shell scripts in Puppy have sleeps & naming for timing issues, as we see in /etc/init.d.

Glad it's working - hopefully ok now. The 'partially covers' result from dmesg may be an issue. Also running
lspci -nn | grep etwork
will give more specific wireless adaptor info.

EDIT: I can't find any later code for this adaptor, so can't make a newer ath9k driver.

@greengeek - I do what you are planning. sfs load in this order: puppy fdrv zdrv ydrv adrv I rename original adrv to ydrv (for optional programs, i.e. browser) & use adrv for my personal settings as it loads last, so nothing changes my settings, although a savefile/folder will of course have lat...

Hi edheil - welcome to puppy forums. The frisbee connection option works better on some pcs if s.n.s. not working. There have been recent updates to s.n.s. also. To check your hardware, would you please run the following commands in a terminal & paste the results: lspci and then: dmesg | grep -i...

Firefox 64 ESR announcement

I have decided to in future, only do MAJOR POINT releases (i.e. 68.6.0 , 68.7.0 etc)
as MINOR POINT releases (i.e. 68.6.1 , 68.6.2 etc) can be done by
simply accepting Firefox's offer of update, when that is made.

lsusb

and then:

dmesg | grep -i firmware

@Tiredpup - I could make you an rtl8821ce driver, but they are kernel specific. Since 5.6.7 is unlikely to be the final production kernel it would only be useful short-term & requires huge kernel, kernel-sources & devx to be sourced. Alternatively, my 5.4.27 kernel (use the ubuntu version) h...

@gyro - interesting - I do that manually - make desired changes, save as save file, open it & trim unnecessary files, save as adrv_x.sfs (because it loads last). Edit that .sfs for minor tweaks. Used the same adrv for ScPup64 19.04, 19.09, 20.01. It's why I've been playing with extra drv.sfs fil...
