Thanks everyone. I installed Grub to the master boot record of the drive, I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

Any time I uncomment the line "gfxmenu /boot/grub/message.pup13 " I get the endless reboot loop. This is regardless of whether or not the line "color light-gray/blue black/light-gray " is commented out or not.

@ Meshica7

I love your new Avitar. Can I use it in Pupeee?

Well I used Pupeee on my VIA ML8000 and followed the same steps. DRI works on the VIA, so I'm not sure what the issue is with the Eeepc.

I have a bit of an odd issue. I'm using Pupeee (based on Puppy 3.01) on my VIA ML-8000 mini-itx box. It is a frugal install. I downloaded and followed the directions. The odd thing is that the line "gfxmenu /boot/grub/message.pup1" causes my computer to go into an endless reboot cycle. As ...

You have had another version of Puppy 3.01 on your Eeepc and have not removed all the files.

Well still no luck. I tried a fresh pup_save file, installed the packages from Petget, and then installed the glxgears-pup1x.pup. glxinfo still reports direct rendering: no, and glxgears only gets about 170 fps.

I'm assuming thats the compiling tools. How do I get in contact with Dan I can't seem to find him in here. I really want to learn to compile in puppy, I've been getting anxious to take a stab at it as soon as I get some free time maybe this weekend. These 12 hour work days are killing me!!! Here I ...

Mark,
Thanks for the info. Unfortunately it still did not work. I will play with it some more on a fresh pup-save file and not use 3DCC at all.

DRI on the Eeepc

I have been playing with getting DRI to work on the Eeepc using Pupeee Beta 4 (based on Puppy 3.01). I downloaded and installed EZpup-3.0.pet since it had the 3DCC and other goodies. I installed the DRM kernel moduals, DRI Graphics Card Drivers, OpenGL, and SDL Library. I edited the xorg.conf file t...

There are a lot of issues with HotPup. Perhaps it should be off by default, with an option to turn it on and off? In fact, there could be an icon on the desktop, with an info text that says "click me to toggle HotPup on and off" ...what do you reckon? I've been toying with this myself sin...

I noticed that too while running Seamonkey for a few days, but only when running totally in RAM. When booted as a frugal install I do not have this problem at all. My thought was to just write a Bash or Cron script that cleans out Seamonkey's cash once a day. This is in Puppy 3.01.

If you are using JWM, try using the IceWM window manager. It works better with full screen apps.

Some more questions: A. protected OS configuration Let us assume, we have an installation on USB-flash. If the user changes anything in normal cases this is stored into pup_sav.3fs after 30 minutes. I need for industrial applications a protected OS. That means, after a reboot the original OS-parame...

@prehistoric,
How true. We have found the connections to be very troublesome. Currently we are working on upgrading to ControlLogix and WonderWare. I'm not the biggest WonderWare fan but it is much better than what we currently have.

Re: reset buttons

prehistoric wrote: Where on earth do you get good core memory for those machines?
Well I think we are about out of suppliers for parts, but we purchased all the used machines we could. Now we have a guy who rebuilds them as they go bad by using all of the old parts we have accumulated.
