Mini PCI Network Card in Dell c400

I was sent a miniPCI wireless network card for my dell c400. Network wizard wants to use the orinoco_cs module. I can't raise the device. How do I find out what chipset it is and what module to use? Thanks. P.s. Yes, I am in the habit of plugging random things into my machines. No need to point that...

Where did you get that desktop theme and those icons? I'd really enjoy the chance to try those out.

Thanks

I don't really have a good grasp on what's different with this install versus any other, aside from my new c400 machine. I all previous installs, I've opted to save to partition. My reason for this is that I use such a small "HDD" of only 4 gigs. For some reason, no matter how I try, I'm n...

I did make the save file on the other computer, good call. I have new info though. I tried making the save file, well I saved to partition since its dedicated to puppy. I'd done this many installs before, but it seems to be part of the reason for the error. That is to say, I installed puppy 5.2.5 to...

dell c400 boot error

I got a 'new' dell c400, and I wanted to put puppy 5.2.5 on it. I have to boot puppy to a different machine, and install on the cf card (that is used with an ide adapter) to install. This is because booting a c400 from usb/cd/floppy is very difficult. This has worked in the past, mind you. Anyway, I...

What do you mean?

CA0106 Sound Card Issue

I know my hardware works, but I'm unable to get my sound to function correctly. After running alsawizard and selecting CA0106, I was getting only static. I've used retrovol and alsamixer to try and determine the issue. The weird part is that when I turn master volume and analog front to 100% the sta...

I was having a bit of trouble with graphics for the first bit, and may have missed it.

I've recently been looking into TrueCrypt as an option, but I don't yet know if I want to experiment with it. Any insight would, of course be appreciated.

How do I password protect Puppy Linux 5.2.5

In the previous versions of Puppy that I've used, I've always had the option to choose how to save during the first shutdown. I'd always selected file, and password protected it. I have two questions: 1. Is this THE way to password protect my OS? 2. Since I wasn't asked to select how I was pupsave t...

The older one worked out just fine, in fact, I'm on it now. I decided to use Frisbee, from Jeremiah, since I never really had much luck with pwireless2 or wpa_gui.

Thanks again.

Now I can scan and detect networks, but I can't seem to get on any with security (the ones I know the key to, of course.) I did get on an unsecured network for a moment (also one I have real-world permission to get on) and then it cut off.

What should I look at to troubleshoot?

Well your dmesg results look fine, but the Network Wizard reports that the interface cannot be raised. So it appears that the rt2800usb driver is failing. You can use one of the proprietary Ralink wifi drivers instead, and thanks to your USB device ID I can say that the rt3370sta driver is definite...

Yeah, his name has come up in almost every other forum post about my previous networking questions. cat /proc/bus/usb/devices returned this: Vendor=07d1 ProdID=3c0d Rev=1.01 dmesg didn't seem to return anything referencing wlan0. This may be my oversight, but I really checked it several times. I hop...

Regrettably, I can't get from step 5 to 6.

I get the error I listed above when I hit "scan."

My wireless adapter is somehow "recognized" as wlan0 and assigned what seems to be the correct driver/module...Then, nothing but the error.

DWA-125 and Puppy 5.2.5 on a Dell C400

I have Puppy 5.2.5 installed on a Dell C400. I'm trying to use a DWA-125 to connect. Network Wizard recognizes wlan0 and assigns rt2800usb Ralink 11n Adapter, but the light on the adapter never shows up. Also, once I proceed further into Network wizard and attempt to test wlan0 I get "Error! Fa...
