[SOLVED] GCC compiler broken on devx_400.sfs?
I'm trying to compile some apps but GCC returns me: # gcc -I. -Wall -O2 -o pw-inspector pw-inspector.c gcc: error trying to exec 'cc1': execvp: No such file or directory I've got a nearly-clean Frugal, with devx_400.sfs. The cc1 file isn't there, and creating a symlink to cc for it doesn't do the tr...

How to make Puppy ignore save files on HD, boot from CD?
Is there anyway to make the Puppy CD ignore the .sfs/.2fs files on the hard disk and force it to boot from CD, without any saved session at all? I want to do so so I can fix GRUB on my old machine.. I get an Error 18 after installing it, as it seems like the BIOS can only read the first 256mb of the...

I downloaded 2.17 and noticed those problems - I'm currently downloading 2.17.1 so I don't know if they've been already fixed or not (I'll tell you in a few hours), but anyway.. -Compiling drivers doesn't work: it seems GCC on devx_217 can't find the standard includes, I tried to compile the zd1211b...

All right, I've tryed modifing the /initrd/sbin/init script (mounted with -o loop) and commented the line that loads the swap. But it keeps copying to tmpfs.. it seems that swap is already loaded BEFORE the memory space check (free -m) and then it gets loaded again after it.. is this a bug? The swap...

Disable copying of pup_216.sfs to tmpfs?
Hi, I've got Puppy running (in loopback mode) on a PII 266Mhz with 64mb RAM. As the system couldn't find the swap partition (I used a loop file with swapon), the system kept loading from HD, and worked OK. The thing is, I created a 128mb swap partition to try Zenwalk, and now Puppy automatically rec...

I extracted the .pup package manually and checked one by one all the libraries (copying to /usr/lib). With the help of ldd, I found the ones needed are: libplc4.so libplds4.so libnspr4.so libssl3.so libsmime3.so libnss3.so libsoftokn3.so Note - that is on Gaim 2.0beta installed from the dotpup on do...

If you have a loopback (frugal, coexist) type of installation, you can boot from the Puppy CD using

Eh? An HD install is more harddrive-intensive because it isn't compressed. A Frugal-install or Live-CD is more RAM-intensive, because the entire thing is loaded into ram rather than run from the harddrive. That's why people put Puppy on the harddrive on low-ram machines. I think you're forgetting y...
