So if you are running a frugal install, you need to download the lupu_devx_520.sfs and put it where your lupusave file is, then have the BootManager load it up (requires that you reboot). Then the portable WikidPad 2.0rc10_1 app should work (it did for me) . It worked. Thanks for that. I'd still li...

Hello docsulo Puppy does not include Python in the ISO image (i suppose because it would make it too big), but is in the devx_xxx.sfs . Thanks CatDude. I had no idea that Python was in the devx file. I had the impression that Barry and others were not fond of Python (because of bloat) so it wasn't ...

WikidPad for Puppy Linux 5.2
I've done everything I could to get Wikidpad 2.0 to work in Lucid Puppy 5.2. I've even gone and asked the guy who runs Portable Linux Apps (he created a portable app of Wikidpad) but alas I can't get it to run. I went to another portable app type created by Philip Guo http://www.stanford.edu/~pgbovi...

Wikidpad for Puppy
I've been trying for several weeks now to get Wikidpad to work natively on Puppy Linux and I'm not getting very far. I can get it to work using Wine but all the functionality is not there. The only thread that I could find on installing was here: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=2680...

Re: Pup-431.sfs not found when using pfix=ram
As a work around, I'll suggest make the save file on your own and let Puppy find it on boot up. I leave it to you to locate your present pup_save.2fs file. Next in its exact location make an other save file. Name it along these lines: pup_save_friend.2fs Here are the commands to run to make a 512MB...

G'day docsulo, When you first started with Puppy 431 you were booting from CD and saving to a USB Stick. Have I got that right? Or were you able to boot straight to the USB Stick WITHOUT NEEDING a CD ? I put it straight on a USB. Couldn't get it to work with the CD so I went to www.pendrivelinux.co...

PET for new version of OSMO?
I really like OSMO. It's small and efficient. However, the version on Puppy 4.3.1 lacks any search function. The new version of OSMO (2.10) now has a Search function for notes and tasks. Awesome! Does anyone have a PET for this new version or can they direct me to a tutorial so I can make one?. I ha...

I'm running Puppy 4.3.1 on a Dell Dimension 8400 with 3 GIg.
Tried to Rip a DVD today with PDvdrsab and it started to rip and I even have temp VOB file but it stops after a few seconds and the screen just disappears.
Any suggestions?

As a Newbie myself, I'm thinking Docsulo might find it easier to simply Boot from the CD (with the USB Pen plugged in and using puppy pfix=ram ) and at the end of the session make a second save file on the USB Pen. For some reason I can't boot from cd. I don't know why. I have the option in boot op...

Re: Pup-431.sfs not found when using pfix=ram
Your objective is simply to make a second usable save file. What you are attempting to do by running the pfix=ram variable is get an opportunity to be presented with the screen which allows you to make a second save file. As a work around, I'll suggest make the save file on your own and let Puppy f...

Pup-431.sfs not found when using pfix=ram
Background - I am using Puppy 4.3.1 on a usb drive on my P4 dell dimension 8400. Everything has worked pretty good from day 1. I booted from the USB drive and created a save file after I shut down (save file is on same USB drive). Today I was thinking of creating a new save file for another user on ...

Edited: Before anything listed below just put in Puppy 4.3.1 Boot the cd >>hitF2 quick and type >> puppy pfix=ram so you boot clean. Can I do that if I'm booting from a USB drive? I can't boot from CD. Also YouTube works - Sometimes. I'm getting an idea now of when it works for me. When I boot - I'...

After Puppy 431 did this to me on 3 or 4 old PCs I gave up on it and started using Puppy 421 or 421 Retro. Run md5sum to make sure your downloads are OK before burning them to CD. ftp://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/metalab/distributions/puppylinux/puppy-4.2.1-k2.6.25.16-seamonkey.iso ftp://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/met...

No Sound On You Tube and other Sound Issues
So everything seems to be going good on my Puppy Linux when I happen to visit YouTube and find I have no sound there. I have sound when I play mp3s and when I play mpeg videos. What do I need to do to get sound on YouTube videos. I tried to look up an answer to this but haven't found anything useful...
