I'm continuing to run precise puppy 5.5RC. Everything so far is running great. All my installs in PPM using ubuntu reps are working great. Fonts look great even running wine. Everything looks good and easy on my eyes. I haven't tried installing nvidia 96.43.23 yet. I have to try that next. Even if t...

Manual frugal install and Grub4Dos. I've tested Pnethood and it's working well with this k3.2.29. Video detected and running nouveau with Mesa DRI. Connected to my print server after installing hplip_print-3.12.10a. Successfully compiled Sylpheed 3.3.0. This precise puppy is working good on my old k...

Filezilla with wxWidgets?
Wary 5.5 with devx. Has anybody compiled it? I've tried and I seem to have a problem with filezilla. When I do this ./configure --prefix=/usr --build=i486-t2-linux-gnu I get an error telling me to get wxWidgets. So I download wxGTK 2.8.12 and try to compile, and still having problems. Any suggestion...

I went ahead and did a manual frugal install and grub4dos then created a save file. I have success connecting to my print server after installing hplip 3.12.10a for precise. Video is working good. This seems to go good with my P4 1.7 with 768mb and a geforce 4 mx 440. Nice, Fast, Responsive. I'll co...

Greetings rcrsn51 I tried your solution for connecting to my samba shares without success. I don't know if this will help, but my server is running SMS (superb mini server) based on slackware 13.37. Here's my samba.conf # This is the main Samba configuration file. You should read the # smb.conf(5) m...

I've been using lupu for a couple years. It's been great. I've installed it on laptops and desktops. It's stable and reliable. All of the newer pups (in my experience) have something or another that becomes a deal breaker for me. I hope lupu 528 will continue on for a while longer as I haven't found...

Testing Slacko54, manual frugal install. I like the speed this puppy runs on this old p4 box. I tried installing the factory nvidia 96.43.23 and that is a no go. on this kit. The default nouveau with mesa works good. I couldn't get a connection to my sms server using YASSM, but downloaded shinobar's...

Mplayer in Precise Pangolin should have vdpau support. Try to change video output to the vdpau in the gnome-mplayer preferences. yes|libvdpau|libvdpau1,libvdpau-dev|exe,dev,doc,nls| #needed by mplayer. Your nvidia driver package should provide rest for the vdpau support...or then not. I suppose the...

Running the latest download and running a manual frugal install. Mplayer does not play any of my videos that I've tried. Both flv and mp4 won't play. The player pops up but then nothing. If you need any of my specs., Let me know. I did install nvidia 96.43.23 driver for my gforce 4 mx 440. I tried u...

I'm amazed that the nouveau is working really good on an old nvidia mx 440. I'm going to compare that to the nvidia driver. I haven't tried 3d on nouveau. The only little thing is.. I have to restart X in order to get a desktop. I like the aqualung music. It's playing music from the slackware server...
