Not Just You

It isn't just you. I got the same issue with opening threads. It does a variation of this with 3 different browsers. I tried Firefox on my Windows machine and Chrome on my PC900A with Puppeee1.0 and then stooped to try IE8 on my Windows machine and no surprise, it didn't even open the website at all...

Failed to get online

Hey, new failure to document. I was at my bank and tried to get online to access a website and it wouldn't work. OK, I am not sure what actually happened at that point. This modem never does tell you (in pupdial) that it is actually working so you have to guess it is and try it. OK, well I tried and...

This thread is basically a how to use this modem with an ASUS Netbook. It is working again for now as long as no one goes and changes anything. The issue that caused it seems to have been identified. It is working again as of 8/29/2010 18:00 or so. Thanks again to rerwin for his help.

modem not working

Both of those file are there as shown below and they are where they should be (i think). I did file, clicked the green arrow to go to the top level and found etc, then PPP and both were there. Before doing that I had removed the usb=nowait parameter from the test environment and rebooted with the mo...

Puppy 4.31 won't install (K2.6.25.16) retro v.2 (intel modem

I tried a retro version of 4.31 I found and it did the typical thing for this machine and freaked out at the video setup. Some work and some don't. This one doesn't even want to do xvesa at that giant resolution (640x480). I think the next step is to pull that cover and remove the video card and mod...

I don't think I used pupdial yesterday and I don't think it went there. I clicked connect and then a window for gnome ppp showed up and i used that and it connected and showed a countdown of how long I was connected and it was 45:00. I just tried that again and it didn't work today. Went back and di...

Live CD's don't boot properly

Daft you say. Not a bit. I have a modem I won't be using and a video card that doesn't have its drivers installed. I may just pull them both out and see if I don't get some of the issues I just got today. I found out some of my issues may have related to using CD-RW discs and maybe to high of a writ...

CD problem

I believe the reason the CDs came out empty was because the CD/RW drive may not be writing to them but just appearing to do so. I was using CD/RW discs and while that wasn't an issue before and they were the same brand as the ones I used before with success. These last ones were 24X and the ones bef...

Some CD's don't work

Beem - You are correct about the 2 boot files. Zipped distros don't have those and that is what I mostly use as my main effort is with the Puppeee distro for the ASUS NetBook. I checked into that last night and looked back at some of the distros that had been successful here and on my older machine ...

Verizon USB760 Modem now works

I was instructed to install pup_event_backend_modprobe_fix_to_p43x-delta_5.2_to_5.3.pet that rerwin just created that would fix the recent modem and network issues. Well, I created another copy of Puppeee1.0 on my Netbook and added the pet package and rebooted numerous times. The only browser on 1.0...

Hardware Log

That was easy one, once I got passed the typos. I tried once more last night to download an ISO on my windows machine. it was TXZ_4.50 and when I burned it with BurnCDCC it still came up with an extra file named boot and didn't even try to open. I have never had a problem getting an ISO file to burn...
