IT WORKS!!! Well,kinda....It kills the timeout, which is great, but I still have to restart my eth0 connection, which is a joke with rp-pppoe.I started and rebooted 4 times to test this,as well as a complete shutdown and restart. Thanks a million for this,Phil! That was a very annoying thing you just eli...

That is EXACTTLY what is happening with me,either it recognises my modem,or it dosent. My modem has to reset itself before I can continue...sometimes it takes awhile.I agree that a shorter timeout would be apreciated,as 60 secs is a bit long to wait.Never had this problem before with puppy, been using...

Mine says: echo "Trying to get IP address from DHCP server (60sec timeout)..." rm /etc/dhcpc/dhcpcd-eth0.pid 2>/dev/null #if left over from last session, causes trouble. rm /etc/dhcpc/dhcpcd-eth0.cache 2>/dev/null #ditto rm /etc/dhcpc/dhcpcd-eth0.info 2>/dev/null #ditto dhcpcd eth0 I have ...

Puppy finishes booting before IP address obtained from DHCP

I made a mistake when stating my problem with my connection,I should have said that I was timing out while loading up,but am still able to log into puppy. It says something like this while loading: "eth0 linkup 100mbps full duplex trying to get IP address from DCHP(60 sec timeout)" then it ...

How do I get my eth0 connection to stay connected permanetly

Hi all, just posted this question on Linux Questions, just thought Id try here :D .My computer hangs up on every 2nd startup, for a minute or more, because my etho connection wont respond(it says it recognises it,but it wont accept its query),and then I have to restart my etho connection again. Hows about CUPS? (For printing in Puppy)

The only thing that I cant do with Puppy is print...the system you use is seriously outdated.I understand that CUPS isnt small, but it can be made as a dotpup for folks with modern printers. If this has already been done, then please point me to it,thanks! :D

A suggestion for making it eaisier to put on hard drive....

There are lots of folks, myself included :D who do not use floppy drives anymore. You could make the boot disk a bootable CD instead,or at least make it a file we could burn ourselves.Id love to install it,but cant without a floppy..........unless there are other suggestions? :D

How do I get online with DSL? (Not on a network.) (Solved)

:D Hi all! New to puppy, and I think its great, but I cant seem to figure out how to get online with my Verizon dsl account.I am hardwired to my laptop(not wireless),and I usually use a pppoe to connect, but the pppoe included with puppy, while I seem to get it to work(Ithink),wont let me connect with m...
