I have found that right-clicking an app in the task bar closes it. Is that the intended behavior? It is, but you can change it. The setting is at line 83 in /root/.config/tint2/tint2rc, "mouse_right = close". The available settings are explained at the link below. http://code.google.com/p...

Edit. I believe that Slacko has accidentally 2 versions of tar. Anyway just the tar binary and symlink for its version number works fine with Extract-txz in Exprimo. The Slackware package for tar contains tar-1.13 along with tar-1.26. The pkgtools rely on certain quirks in tar 1.13 to work properly...

The Slackware binutils package renames strings to strings-GNU to "differentiate between BSD strings and GNU strings". Might not be a big deal, but I created a symlink for a package I was compiling.

So, if it includes "most" of the dependencies, which one(s) is(are) missing?
Looks like none. I always run with Mesa and the devx installed, so I don't always know when other folks'll have missing deps.

None of that is necessary. The Sourceforge folder has Calibre packaged for Linux in a way that it can be run like a portable application. It includes most of its dependencies. Give it a shot. EDIT: In Slacko RC1, I extract Calibre into CalibrePortable, but almost anything should work. No spaces, tho...

Hey Iguleder! Just wanted to thank you for builder. I've wanted a way to create Puppy packages with build scripts for a while now. I use src2pkg in other circumstances, but have not felt comfortable modifying the scripts it produces. Builder provides a degree of freedom I need to work on my Puppy Sp...

Hi nooby, The forum announcement of RC2 says, "We have added the ability to build archlinux packages in slackware format in both the abs and aur with a special script unique to VectorLinux." This script takes an Arch PKGBUILD, like this one for libglade , and builds a package to Slackware'...

Anyone willing to make deltas? EDIT: Experience with alpha1, at least: Booted up fine, got to desktop, wireless connected. Applied the fixes that were posted. Installed mesa, that's working. Installed a few things from the repos: SDL_sound-1.0.3-i486-2dj cxxlibs-6.0.14-i486-1 glew-1.5.7-i486-1 gmp-5...

What exact packages for chromium are you using? Can you give me a link? I might put it in the repo too. Well, I'm using straight up Chrome. There is a page of Linux Chromium packages on the Chromium wiki. There's also a Slacky .txz . It looks like the slackbuild grabs one of the daily builds ( http...

That's why I mentioned Chromium. It's not Chrome. And it's more current than Iron, which should make it more secure.

Also, the advertising on the Iron website is really annoying.

I'm using the stable Chrome on 099 with no problems. I had to install a package from GrumpyWolfe:

You might have luck with Chromium. It should be in the repositories for Ubuntu and Arch, among others.

johnnywinner.. nice desktop! Where did you get the tint 2 (version please) and openbox packages? As for the suspend issue it could be to do with rfkill, I didn't look at the kernel configuration but I believe it is disabled. It also could be a video driver issue .. some more info from you please? (...

Nice work! Good to see someone pick up slackpup. Some problems: 1. gnome-mplayer doesn't work fullscreen in JWM. Works fine in openbox. 2. I closed my laptop, and came back. It came up and switched between the desktop and a tty, then suspended again. Had to cycle the power. EDIT: It does freak out l...

openbox + tint2

I've been using openbox and tint2 in Kwort (based on CRUX), so I went ahead and built them for TXZ_pup. In TXZ_pup, just rename the file (volumeicon and gsimplecal are tgz files and the rest are txz), and click on it. To start openbox, drop out of X and type xwin openbox. You'll need imlib2 from big...

Hey Igluleder Zen works great for me! Runs faster and lighter than 008. Only problem so far, sound works on boot, but alsaconf breaks it. I had the same problem a few rounds ago. The solution was not to run alsaconf :? :) Can't always avoid it though... Otherwise, excellent! Good work, Iguleder, and...

Hey scOttman

It downloaded from a mirror on the first try. md5 checks out and the iso is mountable. I'm replacing my previous frugal install now.

The progression from v7 to 8 and 9 has been awesome. Thanks for the mirrors.

I tried that a few times. When the connection closes, wget starts over completely. When I try downloading it in prozilla, part of the display says resume isn't supported. The earlier "unfixed" V9 I grabbed from the megaupload and the fixes should do for now. This is a great project, and on...

I'm on a slow connection, and when the download times out (generally at 20-30%), there's no way to resume.

Hey John, Thanks for the reply! I managed to find http://puppyisos.org/isos/Puppylinux-official/2.14/ . Initially it was for UIPS (a rom patcher), and JACL (a text adventure toolkit). UIPS provides no Linux binary, although there's also JIPS, written in Java, but they both provide source code. As fa...
